I was at Sacramento zoo on friday evening. Saw a *ist D and another Pentax. Although only saw the strap on the second one, so couldn't make out the camera. Funnily both of the gentlemen were Asian. I thought that might be because Pentax might have a larger base in East Asian countries.

I was looking on a different camera website - Photoanswers.co.uk - and found this video...

It's not the content of the video, but the camera he's got dangling around his neck - a K20 (I think)!

This website & their magazines always seem to favour Canikons so it was good to see a Pentax on display.

i didn't saw any pentaxian today, but i saw ... PENTAX ADVERTISING !

It was on a bus (there is litterally more than 300 bus line, here in Paris, so i will see a lot of those ads in the next days). I didn't have enought time to take a picture with the cellphone, but some will come.

It was for the WG series, a kite-surfer is taking a picture during a jump.

on the side you can read "PENTAX, la photo outdoor" (Pentax, the outdoor photography), PENTAX, a RICOH COMPANY.

Seems, Pentax decided to be the outdoor photo company

Well with 2 WR DSLR out and a very good Waterproof WG it is a good target.

They should do more of this with the WG - a Surfing Video would be cool from the board POV

Please do. It seems that (with just about ∞ more advertising than the USA) Europe is a starting point for them. Or the guinea pig.

I moved to Pentax because of the value for money and old lens capability when I moved from a Panasonic Bridge Camera.

Funnily enough someone at work shoots Pentax... she has an its* D and a K20D...

I knew I was getting that wrong when I did it, but come to think of it, could well make more sense! Stupid model name. was before my time in my defence, starting with a K10D

On my trip earlier this month through Glacier NP, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons I saw one Pentax DSLR, a white K-x or K-r, at Oxbow Bend. Iconic sites still dominated by canikon, some FF but more APS-C. Did see, however, one Leica M9. Also plenty of P&S and a few cell phones as well.

the real question would be who named the *ist film camera where the name was derived from (horrible cripple POS that it was - the digital*ist series were far better)

Ok so it was my daughters last day of school.. figured I would see some camera's today.. other than one reporter sporting a Oly E-5, the only other DSLR's there was my new D800 and this lady with that looked like a D80 or D90.. My new GF wasn't there to shoot with the K100.. so no Pentax representation unfortunately.. but this picture re-affirms my thoughts about entry level mainstream Canikonians... love the backwards lens hood.. loved it so much I had to snap a shot of it!
