um, with all due respect, we know that's how it is stored and working inside (the gym floor??) it probably wasn't too awful necessary. Gives the lens less bulk in close quarters using it that way. Now, if she just came in from outside, that's a different story!

Saw two Pentaxians at Robert Mondavi winery in Napa valley yesterday. One of them was a lady, who was just using a kit lens with the built in flash. Looked more like a casual shooter.

I've yet to see another Pentaxian... ever. :c (

Got a couple looks at different air shows I went to with my Kx from people with Canon rigs... but that is cool.. I still got the shots I was after.. and then some. :cD

If I ever left Pentax land, I'd probably go to Sony land... In body Shake reduction is too useful to me. I wonder why Nikon and Canon don't offer bodies with shake reduction.. ??

they’ve got too much invested in promoting in lens, too much extra profits to give up by not having more expensive stabilized lenses.

I was at the landing of the Super Guppy last weekend. This was essentially a big photo opp. 100S of people were at the event. 90% plus with some kind of camera. There were probably 50+ DSLR mostly the usual Canon and Nikon. I did see a Sony Alpha and and more then 1 or 2 Pentax. I even spotted a 645D.

Mostly with Pentax it has been with older photographers but I have seen a new trend to the younger like this with a K7 or K5.

I am also seeing some other new trends. For example I had my camera on a tripod (mostly so I did not have to hold it all the time and to create space around me), I would meter and take 1 photo. Around me when ever I would hear someone take a photo is was almost always 3 shots at a time. When I noticed this I started looking around and watching the other photographers. Almost all of them were not metering just shooting 3 frame bracketing. Just point, shoot and pick the best one later.

Another trend I am seeing more is more shooting like this.

Even when using a big lens and using the optical view finder would be faster, easier and a lot more stable, more new photographers seem t bring there cell phone photograph to a DSLR.

Yesterday, saw a man in Rome with Canon (lots of them). We stood next to each other to get the same street. After I asked what focal length he was using, and he said it wa a cheap lens, Tamron x-300 on FF. He quite liked what I got with my STak 105/2.8, and was amazed a fast lens was so small (I even had the hood on making it look bigger). That I answred, "antique from the 60's". Mine is quite worn, someone else used it a lot, but with respect. Then conversation shifted to Rome.

Looking at the original size of the photo, it seems more like a K10D or K20D with the DA 18-55 dunno if the I or II...

You are indeed correct and sharp eyed. I stand corrected. After looking some other photos I have of this boy in one I can see the back of the camera. In that photo I can see the slightly larger size of the back LCD screen so that would make it a K20. As to the lens all I can tell is that it is a DA 18-55 but I can't make out the label on the top to see if it is a I or a II.

mine came with the II but I bought at the end of life, not at the beginning, so maybe it changed towards the end

Spotted this shop sign in the Smith Street Mall in Darwin. They did not have a lot of Pentax gear in stock and I did not see one Pentax DSLR in a week

I'm running into a lot of Pentax people of late. There's someone with a K-r on my one doll board. I've met two people now locally outside the camera clubs and there are 5 members of those who are now. The number is definitely increasing.

If Ricoh manages to succeed in their plan to triple share in the next 18 or so months I think we may have to request the mods close this thread
