was shooting a wedding this past weekend and noticed this:

okay, shes my niece and thats my second K5 body and my DA*16-50, but you need to start them young! I spent some time and taught her how to use Av and M modes this weekend, so I think I'll buy her a used K200D if one shows up and give her some lenses I have doubles of. She really likes shooting and has some natural talent.

I did see 3 other Pentaxians though. K100D with kit lens, KX with FA77 and a K5 with a FA31. The guy with the K5 thought I was nuts for waving at him and yelling "go Pentax"....

LMAO!!!!! You sure do look like one! But i feel you man!

Why? Coz i've come across tourists, sometimes complete stranger, male and female, with a Pentax in tow, and i'll catch their attention just to smile and mouth the word, "Pentax? Nice!" followed by a thumbs up sign...

Sometimes i think that's why people "stay away" from Pentax, maybe people like us make it look like Pentaxians are nut cases... ROFL!!

But oh well.... Who cares?

Optyczne.pl forums have a rather large K-30 ad on top of their page. As in, it's the first thing you notice when you enter.

I was in San Francisco today looking for a K5 to handle to see if I could handle one as an upgrade to my K10D... none of the bigger camera shops carry anything Pentax. That's horrible :| Not even Keebler and Shuchat in Palo Alto carries them anymore. Ugh. Frys doesn't have any either... so sad.

It's rare to find any brick & mortar store in the US with Pentax available. Hopefully that will change over time. I've heard of K-r sightings earlier this year at places like Costco, Best Buy, etc. It seems you pretty much have to deal with the big shops (B&H, Adorama, Amazon) in order to try out a new Pentax in the US. Or your local Craigslist for used equipment, which was how I found my first Pentax.

Well bless my cotton socks, I met today a fellow pro tog covering the same event as myself, all the way up from the big city of Glasgow using Pentax.

So by last count that's at least two of us then.

Must be Pentax Sunday, we did both admit to also using other folks systems as well.

Full page Pentax ad in this month's Outdoor Photographer magazine, featuring soaking wet, rained on K-30, Optio WG-2 and Pentax binoculars. Looks like Ricoh marketing is starting to ramp up.

Great, I can't wait to see that, mine hasn't come yet. I like Outdoor Photographer, they don't seem to sell out to the biggest advertisers, just good information.

Well, she wouldn't be able to lug around the ubiquitous D3/24-70 wedding combo.

Not sure about that, she seems pretty comfortable with the camera. Them Canadians are pretty tough.

Bit late but I just wanted to add, I went to several of the London Olympics events and I didn't see a single fellow pentaxian. I went to the equestrian cross country, basically wondering around a park filled with 50,000 other people, every other person has a DSLR. Loads of canikons, a few Olympus's, a couple of Sonys but not a single Pentax apart from the one around my neck.

When I'm out and about with my 10-year-old son, I have a running offer to give him a looney (our delightfully, oddly named Canadian dollar) whenever he sees a Pentax DSLR. Bad for him, good for me, bad for Pentax, but I've only paid him $3 so far in over a year. He's into photography, but decided he was a nikon guy. He has a used Nikon D3000 - it's a good entry DLSR, but I definitely prefer my K-X. On another note, I read these forums, and while I certainly would like a K-5, I'm always amazed with the quality of the shots I can get out of the K-X when paired with my 40 ltd or 50 f1.7. It really is a solid little camera, small enough that I take it most everywhere.
