I think Pentax is a tad more frequent in eastern Europe and Russia due to easy compatibility with the old M42 soviet time lenses, but old lens fans are a minority group too

Everyone asks me why I got the Pentax camera, many have not even heard of the brand. Currently K30 is the best bang for the buck if you want a camera that's got 1) good high iso/low light performance, 2)weatherproof, 3) 100% coverage prism finder, 4) has two control dials, which is what I wanted, and what I got Plus the WR kit lens seem to be of good quality, better than comparable entry level lens from canon, nikon or sony.

And when I chose to put my loyalties with Pentax..I did so for a few very good reasons:

1. value (we are aware of the current economy correct?)
2. reviews (albeit few and far between) each was stellar
3. I am a mom to a toddler and a newborn (the occasional juicebox eruption scares me not!) I am not "afraid" of m y camera
4. It just feels good
5. I love attention....and shooting Pentax assures me lots of of it haha

SPECIFICATIONS!!!!

I am very new to the photography world, and while the "others" seem like the obvious choice if you are easily swayed by marketing gimmicks, about 5 minutes of researching yields outstanding results from the Pentax lineup.

I <3 my rogue camera!

Hm. I don't think Pentax wins at specs... except for those that count. Basically I feel like other brands often try to look good on paper, having lots of features, high resolution and what not. But Pentax excels at giving you a camera that is great to use, has all the _useful_ features you'd want, and have them easily accessible.

Was in an animation convention last weekend and was surprised at the sudden appearance of..hey. NINE MORE PENTAXIANS.

Can't believe it. The original plan was just around 3 or 4 of us friends (none of which were sure to go), but here comes half more. Apparently a squad of Pentax users in a single place draws so much attention... we've successfully convinced another to go Pentax, with one Canon 5D MkIII/ 1Ds II user thinking twice about his current system.

I don't think the Borg had Pentax optics fitted as standard, because they kept walking into things.

I just heard a radio commercial for a local Washington, DC area camera store ( Ace Photo, www.acephoto.net) for the Pentax K-30. Also, on April 20 is Pentax day at the store they are giving demos of Pentax gear!!

They have a good line of Pentax gear!!

Saw a fellow from Germany in the Mariposa Grove at Yosemite National Park this last weekend carrying a K-7 mounted to the DA* 16-50/2.8. He told me that he loved both the camera and the lens.

Bumped into a pentaxian photo journalist the other day.
Pretty rare with pentax equipment these days due to heavy lobbying by other brands :P even sponsoring or handing out free branded clothing & tools.

Looking in the secondhand window of Bradford's last camera shop (happens to be a Pentax Pro Centre) I got chatting to an older lady with a K-r... She'd not realised she could use the lenses she had previously used on her old Pentax-MG... She left smiling and excited!

I recently moved to Steamboat Springs, CO and decided to search down the local camera store. Nice surprise to see a big Pentax banner out front. Turns out Pentax and Leica are their flagship brands. Left with an Pentax-A 135/2.8 for a good price, just missed out on a 28/2 but someone had drove down from Jackson hole (~8 hours) to get it.
Got to hold the Q-10 also, wife liked it-thats a good omen. Also gave me a great price on some 120 film, d-76, and fixer. Great place!
