I've been to our Pentax retailer today... I must say, they have a pretty well stocked Pentax shelf stack. It has all the current DSLRs except for the 645Z (which they also carry), and a bunch of lenses (18-270, 55-300 WR, 60-250, 200, 300, 20-40, a couple of Limited primes...). This cupboard is cared for by a long-time Pentax user who I had a really nice chat with. There was also an event this Saturday where Pentax was pretty exposed, with a 645Z and DA 560mm available.

I like the idea.
However a "beaten up car" has some character, while an ordinary car, not brand spanking new but not beaten up either, has no personality.
You detailed a consistent set of features that help paint an adventurous kind of person. I get another feeling from the ad.

Also, it would have been a good idea to actually feature the car more, if it was to be considered an asset.
One idea that springs to mind is a ground-level shot of an incoming wheel braking and stopping in front of the camera, sporting a worn tyre and a muddy wheel arch (mud guard or whatever you call it).
Cliché, maybe, but deliberate. Definitely not a haphazard intrusion of a detail because it happened to find itself in the frame.
Hmmm... Such as an older, well used, mud flung jeep that's still running, like the ones I see where I live.

My aunt just bought her first Pentax, from a secondhand shop (Goodwill), a Pentax ME Super with two lenses. She also has her eye on a new K-50 with two lenses. She said an older male shopper in the second hand store looked the ME Super over, told her it was clean and in very good condition and that he always used Pentax.

I spotted one today!
Was with my K-01 in a city center and I suddenly spotted this guy watching me - rather, my camera - wide-eyed and puzzled...
He had a dslr with a zoom lens, couldn't make out the model, I just read "Pentax" in white, on the strap... :-P

My reaction when I spot another Pentaxian in the wild (seldom enough):

Less rare now

I had a K-30 a couple of years ago, sold it for no good reason and have tried Sony, Canon and Nikon since.
All good cameras but I keep hankering after a Pentax, I think it's the lenses and being an 'underdog' ... about to add +1 to the Pentax Owners Worldwide

Rare but not so rare

As I was perusing the variety of threads and entries, it seemed there were few new posts. I'll admit, I have not been on here for some time, so I am guilty of not helping to keep discussions going. Glad to see there are posts entered and some discussions are continuing. As far as seeing other Pentax cameras, I have not seen another one in quite some time, but I continue searching.

I saw a Pentaxian in Chelmsford, Essex (UK) the other day - walking through one of our shopping centres. By the time I'd clocked the name on the strap, he'd passed me, then I was too shy to run after him immediately...once I'd plucked up the courage he'd vanished, despite me selling the local camera shop (which doesn't stock Pentax, for shame)

This reads something like one of those lonely hearts missed connection posts...haha!

Pentax users were rare in my part of the world before official distribution started early this year.

Pentax DSLRs make great sense for anyone who already has Pentax lenses. Having all your lenses stabilized is great. Sony has that too, but you need an adapter. Pentax has been using the K mount forever, so unlike Minolta, Olympus and Canon they never alienated their user base. Nikon's done damage to itself with all the "this lens auto-focuses on body x but not yours" lenses.

Pentax won't win many innovation awards but, and because, they have kept legacy support.
