Disney World camera scouting

I just got back from a few days at Disney World. I didn't feel like bringing my usual vacation stuff, K-x and 18-250mm vacation zoom and 30mm f/1.4 with me, as it's a bit much to carry when I go on rides. So I brought my Sony NEX-5 with 18-55mm lens. But I did take note of what dslrs I saw others carrying. I identified:

18 Canon
8 Nikon
4 Sony
1 Olympus
1 Pentax

I was very surprised early on because I saw 3 Sony dslrs before I saw any Nikons. I guess the Canon to Pentax ratio is about what I'd expect. But I'd expect to see more Nikons walking around.

I stopped and said hi to the chap with the Pentax - he was a little bewildered I think as to why I was saying hi but nevertheless - obviously doesn't read this thread! Was a lovely sunny day though and everyone was in good spirits!
Wish I could have got there Pixley. I live in Mooroolbark, and heard the trains' whistle from home.

That would have made 4 Pentax's on the train/platform as I would have handed the k-x to my better half while I used the k-7.

Maybe next time

That's about the ratio I saw the week of the 18th at WDW. 2 of the Sony's were carried by folks from Japan. The Pentax I saw was a K7 at Hollywood Studios. I was carrying my K-x with the 18-55 kit lens.

I went to my first event with my new K-x a couple weeks ago, a girls roller derby competition. Had my DA 18-250mm. The guy next to me had a Canikon, but he was aware of Pentax and said he's considered/considering a Pentax because he has some glass. I mentioned the new models coming out.

it just feels good not being a little sheepie, and following what the majority of people think is the best or normal.
ive felt this way my whole life about everything, always shot with pentax, never used a nikon or canikon and couldnt care less.

also i dont think we need to justify the pentax brand anymore,to anyone.
we all know the product line is getting stronger, and the lenses have always ruled,
soon they will come begging to have a play with us pentax big boys.....lol

so we are rare....for now.

Saw a chap shooting with a Pentax 67 in Times Square the other day!

That has got to be a pretty rare sight

A photo from our regular monthly Pentax outing... this time to Little India.
This one is special because of the many K-5 and K-r cameras among the users. Photo courtesy of Frank. K-5 with DA 21mm.

I heard that Pentax has a couple of factories where they make cameras but I didn't know where all these cameras go.
now I know, they're all in Singapore

Huh. I didn't realize I was joining such an exclusive group! I just figured that since I'm an unemployed student who can only afford Tesco value film, so I might as well put the old K1000 away and go digital. I never knew it would be such a status symbol!

Welcome to the high status Pentax club! Despite some quibbles from the peanut gallery, the cameras work quite well, thank you!

No this is in Singapore, not Malaysia. Two neighboring countries. Do a Google Earth search...
