Last week I attended a trade show in Chicago. Saw the customary crowd of CaNikons in a fair amount and a lot of cell phones-as-camera examples, but no single Pentax both during the show and during my outings in the city. I didn't bring mine either but used my cell phone camera instead. No need to risk my treasure.
I was probably downtown taking pictures with my K-5IIs . I actually saw a K10D at the Field Museum, but didn't talk to the owner.

I spotted a KM (the film body, not the k-m digital body) a few weeks ago in Halifax (Canada, not Yorkshire). At a distance I thought it was a K1000, but the user corrected me. He was actually photographing the street I was walking on, so I was probably a small part of the composition. Quite an honour.

I was walking downtown this afternoon, I did not see any Pentax but I've seen what I believe was a Yashica TLR.

Was just in Vegas with my wife and daughter. 5 days, ZERO sightings (besides my K-3 of course). A couple of Canon and Nikon cameras, a bunch of smaller Samsung/Sony cameras (either point and shoots or M4/3). And the obviously abundant cellphone camera. I will say, I saw far more Samsung phones being used for pictures than iPhones this time, which was a first. I remember when having a samsung phone in general was the oddity, with or without picture taking.

Anyways, I'm off to New York in another week or so to catch some of the US Open with the wife. Hopefully I'll have better luck there running into fellow snappers

In my 5 weeks in Europe this summer (UK, Italy, France) I saw two other Pentaxians - one guy in Florence with a K10D, and another in Paris with a newer body (but could not see which one).

Saw one (think it was a K-3) at an airshow last week, but didn't get a chance to speak to the guy!

In fairness to the CaNikon beginner crowd, I don't think that Canon or Nikon furnish hoods with their lower tier cameras. More fool they!

Maybe, i honestly never been used a Canikony camera, but still im thrilled about every change they need to do they have to go to the menus and sub-menus, even in my more humble K30 i never did that.

They must supply hoods! Every lower tier Canikon I see, is being used with the hood on backwards.

Some do and some donʻt, but most entry level users donʻt appreciate the function of the hood and often just leave it off.

Also note that when I bought the K-50 with 2 lens kit, neither zooms came with a hood. (They come with a hood if purchased ala carte). And the Pentax hoods are not cheap, but I bought them anyway.

I've just started work in Vietnam - had my photo taken for the company website today - by a K3.

The guy taking the photo didn't speak much English but gave me a big smile when I said "beautiful camera"

I was once asked by an "Associate" in a big box store photo "department" what that funny thing on my K-5's lens was.... I tried to explain briefly, but probably failed.

I always knew the company exists, but never actually knew much about the cameras and lenses they produced in the digital era (film lenses and bodies are legendary, so I think everyone heard of them). Until K-1 dropped like a bomb and basically forced me to sell my older gear to get it) Now I'm one of the unique unicorns that uses Pentax
