Ring the bells! I found a store who sells new Pentax DSLRs.
ps: sorry for potatophone quality.

The store is on the corner of a busy street, so everybody with eyes can see this sign.

I don't usually look to see what others are using but this summer, in St Ives, Cornwall, I saw a guy with a K1 around his neck and his partner also had a Pentax, but I couldn't see which one. During 6 weeks holiday in France in July and August I noticed about another 10 in various locations (Dordogne and Biarritz area). So there are a few out there.

Been in New York for 3 days so far. Seen tons of Nikons, a few Canons, a fujifilm mirrorless, and even an Olympus DSLR (which I don't think I've ever seen before). Yet to see a Pentax.

I even stopped into B&H to grab a new Monopod and Camera strap, and went to peruse the new gear. I was so saddened when I mentioned Pentax, and the expression on the man's face helping me went blank. He composed himself quickly, but you could just see in his head he was saying "Pentax? Really? Why?"

/cry

Maybe I'll have more luck when I hit the US Open on Friday...

So which country sells the most number of Pentax cameras? Maybe, there will be more Pentax sightings there?

Many people claim it is Japan.

Two days ago, I was at a local dahlia farm and the attendant in the display garden saw my K-3 and mentioned that both he and his son used Pentax cameras (K-x and K-3II respectively). Well, I thought, that is certainly novel!

FWIW, the shop I work in has sold 4 or 5 of the Pentax K1's this past spring and summer, along with a few of the 24-70/2.8's and a couple of the 15-30/2.8's
and 70-200/2.8's As well, a few of the Ricoh GRII's

Cheers and, like the truth, we're still out there

As I've said in the other thread. If our user base doubles, it's now as what Nr. Northrup's video says, "The Attack of the Pentaxians". Or better maybe to say "The Attack of the Jedi Army".

Now where's my light shaver? I've got shave someone's head.

For more than 40 years I have only ever bought myself Pentax Camera's.

I didn't think I was that rare .... UNTIL

Last year I updated to a K3ii + 16-85mm zoom + AF360FGZII as an all round travel kit. It's first outing was a trip to NZ where the WR may be handy. As it turns out it was not needed .... the weather was perfect.

Anyway we were at a Maori cultural experience night when the person next to me spots my camera and immediately starts up a conversation. He had previously been using a Nikon D-something which his wife now used and he had purchased a K-50 + 18-135mm zoom.

Turns out he was a train spotter and wanted the WR so he would not have to worry about his gear while waiting for a train in less than ideal conditions. He sounded really excited about the camera and strangely enough that he had met another Pentax user.

I didn't want to get into a 'yeah but I've got a K3ii' situation ... because I am not like that ... so I played it a bit low key and we exchanged a few comments about the cameras and enjoyed the night.

It wasn't until I had come back home and found PF that I became aware of how Pentax market share had slipped over the years. I had always been able to buy Pentax so I never thought any more of it.

I see now I should have been a bit more chatty .. We might have been the only Jedi in the building that night.

So if you are out there Jon, may the force be with you. Welcome to my universe.
