Miracle!!!

I saw TWO Pentaxes in the wild today, both at Bus Depot Markets in Canberra, Australia. One was a K-3 which looked like it might have been doing a professional shoot of a stall/stalls, and the other was a DSLR too, but I didn't recognise which one. My K-1 and K-3 were at home, resting.

Dave, which college/uni in Rochester? My son is an Electrical Mechanical Engineering major at RIT and shoots a K-50.
Ah yes, an R2D2 major! Actually that was after my time. RIT, paroled in 1980!

Heʻs a good tiger and is currently a co-op/intern working on X-Wing Star Fighter turbines for GE Aviation in Cincy before returning to Rochester in January. Iʻll ask him if they are still referred to as R2D2 majors. I majored in Motion Pictures/Television at UCLA and was released for good behavior in ʻ82 back when Eastman Kodak was emperor of the kingdom.

Part of me was (secretly) sad he didnʻt go into my own field at RIT with their awesome photography program, but he has his own mission in life and still finds time to travel, take pictures, and pursue his education.

I loaned him a Nikon when he was in high school, but as an engineer he appreciated the Pentax more and I sponsored and endorsed him.

They put the money where it is needed (Canikon). The photo cage in Rochester is mostly all Canon also. Some Nikon too I think...
Because the cage of our college was so Canon-exclusive, I thought my professor was Canon-exclusive too. Until our last field trip, when he woke me up on the bus with the shutter sound of a Pentax 6x7.

Ok, someone hold me up, I think I might be seeing things.

I'm flicking through my Foxtel channels,(Australian version) when I come across a full HOUR of an ad for Ricoh/Pentax. They are flogging a k-50 twin lens kit with some accessories for $799 Oz. Clem Kennedy himself is on screen giving us the low down on the camera and the various accessories. I can finally say Pentax and Advertising in the same sentence! While a spot on the home shopping network is no-where near full page ads in leading photo mags, etc. It is remarkable.

Yeah I was engaged by a friend to shoot a wee group...
got there and another dude with bag was there
I was needing to be somewhere else so asked if he could carry on with it...
He pulled out a K-70 which we both agreed was sufficient

I saw a guy shooting Pentax 6x7 (I think) when in Italy during the 2016 Holidays. I couldn't resist and asked him for a picture He seemed pleased!

Mildly autistic , a confirmed snap shooter , with no aspirations to massive IQ and artistry , cameras creating a comfort zone , I have returned to the fold with a brand new , warranted , new Pentax K-1S with zoom and 35 f2.5 @ £220 , following a stint with Sony / Minolta to use my Minolta 35-80 , until becoming disenchanted with the EVfFof my Sony A35.

I am actually delighted that the stuff I like is not popular and gets kicked out into clear out/used . I also picked up a new Fuji X-Pro1 body for £168 and added a 27mm to make a £320 camera for my shoulder bag , I love it 'cos it's discrete and is the same size as my old Minolta SRTs .
But picking up the K-1S with it's crystal clear100% viewfinder - free of artefacts and clear screen , made me realise what I prefer .

Let them keep their Canons and Nikons , I have never been tempted after comparing the discontinued , reduced ,K10d [ Nikon D200 ? ] way back when .

I still like my stripped out Sony A290 , with a used , mint , £100 A390 for 'waist level' screen to use my 1990s Minolta 35-80 as , like my K10D , I like CCD sensors .

The K-1s is an amazing improvement on the Sony's , the balance with the 35mm is perfect , and I et to use my favourite zoom - a 1990s 35-80 creating my perfect 50-120 combination preferred with the Sony's .

Yep a Pentax 67II with the wooden grip! I can't make out the lens though.
