No evidence of Pentax on my recent trip to the states unfortunately and I quite agree about the border officials in the US! Would it hurt them to smile at least one in a while?

A Pentax rep could be invited.
Even more rare than a Pentaxian

Perhaps the answer is to hold local/regional gatherings of some sort where lonely and/or concerned Pentax owners or Pentax clubs present their cameras and lenses to show people, to demonstrate and basically advertise our cameras. It might seem pointless, unless we create a demand and more people hit on camera stores to carry cameras so that they can buy them after trying a hands-on event. A Pentax rep could be invited. It would be a chance for local Pentaxians to meet one another.
We have a local group of Pentaxians here and they are on Facebook. I met one of them here in the province where I live. Actually he was the one who noticed me and he introduced himself. I posted our acquaintance on this thread about a month ago. He invited me to join the group but I didn't despite being interested. I'm a little scared that what might happen to the K-mount might happen when I joined the local Olympus forum. Olympus killed the 4/3 mount about a year after I joined. So, I'm a little reluctant in joining.

totsmuyco, perhaps a rep is asking too much. Maybe, then, coordinate a gathering with a camera store/dealer who wants the publicity. Just thinking....

They do that in Manila. But here, I think at the max, there will be only about 10 of us.

If you had to do that for a living would you be smiling, I've never seen a border official from any country smile.

Went to the "World Center for Birds of Prey" Fall Flight event last week in Boise.
Sat next to a Nikon shooter. Was more interested in the guy in front of me using his Canon AE-1.
Same weekend was at the Gowen Thunder Air Show in Boise. Saw a mix of cameras no Pentax other than me. Did laugh a little when I saw the front page of the local newspaper the following day.
The picture they had for the air show looked very close to one of mine. Their shooter must have been close to my viewlng location.

Here's the K3 plus FA 31mm limited I saw in Kyoto a few months ago. I had the DA 35mm limited on my K3 at the time and was tempted to ask him if he wanted to swap to each try out the other lens for a few shots

^ Funny! I saw one guy with a Pentax in Gion. It had a battery grip, but I didn't see which model it was. This was mid September.

I was exhibiting at a Festival in the UK today when who should wander by but a fellow PentaxForum user with a K-1 slung about his person. Don't know who was surprised the most. Such a rare sight in the wild ...

I was at the Oregon Zoo yesterday for the annual "Squishing of the Squash" where the elephants are given giant pumpkins to demolish and devour. I was very surprised to see an older gentleman (older than me, anyway) behind me with a K-7. We talked a little and he shared that he got the K-7 only after his MZ-5 died and could not be economically repaired. He really like the MZ-5n but said the K-7 was OK.

From 'Stranger Things' season 2 episode 2 on Netflix - they are taking pictures just before Halloween. It's not a DSLR - but it's a Pentax camera :-)

Spotted a Pentax DSLR user on Bourke St, Melbourne, Australia today. An entry level model was all I could tell.
