As long as there is enough light and/or you don't need shallow dof, it is quite good, actually.
I think it's an excellent little bit of kit. I use mine a lot & have gotten some excellent shots with it. And the build quality is miles ahead of the Nikon or Canon (especially Canon) kit lens.

Yes, it seems Pentax pros are rare, at least in the US. I shot exclusively Pentax until this year - it's just been too difficult for me in terms of renting gear for weddings, and I needed a better low-light camera that was full-frame without going with the 645. So...I went to Nikon. I still have my Pentax, which works well for a walk-around camera and for travel, but for weddings and portraits, I go Nikon. (I know I know...)

I have just found out why I never see any other Pentax users, an old Swedish Pentax Ad explained it for me. We're all busy with our "perfect bodies".

Not happening in this country, I had a slight culture shock when I moved here. Was used to watching some of those Swedish evening shows on TV back home.

When it comes to cameras, people don't really think about Pentax. Like whats so special about Nikon and Canon? Just big name brands, that's probably why everyone goes with it.

Being the minority in the camera world might be giving some of us the false sense of superiority.
I simply chose Pentax over other brand was because They "looked" and specifications looked better at the price I bought.

Now that I've been using Pentax for a bit, I am developing the false sense of superiority over CaNikon sheeps.
Just like how I look down upon iPhones since I have an Android Phone.

What have I become!?

An independent thinker maybe? Discerning? Informed? A person that can make an educated decision based on their personal needs, not what is fashionable or trendy?

Sounds familiar, but I know it's not a "false" sense of superiority... I'd even go on to say I would gladly use Ubuntu over Windows or OSX... if I was tech savvy enough to know how to properly package and run it.

Former Pentax user here. Sold all my Pentax stuff about a year ago. I really liked Pentax, but I kept drooling over L lenses and eventually made the switch to Canon. I had a K200D and I thought it was fantastic, but then I held a 7D and it molded into my hand. Pentax didn't really have the lenses I needed specifically. I know a lot of Pentax people love to bargain hunt for old manual lenses, and more power to them for using them and getting great images. I just love my ridiculously great autofocus on the 7D paired with a 70-200L USM lens, which is something that a Pentax couldn't match. Shooting nighttime football games and soccer games and in gyms needs a fast lens, and to be honest, that is slim pickings at Pentax. I plan on moving up to full frame eventually, it's just another option that Pentax chooses not to compete in.

Well just thought I'd share my thoughts in this thread, don't bash me too much!

No, it's just horses for courses. I wouldn't lung a 7D+70-200 just to be able to shoot sports once in a while. There's nothing like a K-5+DA15 in Canonland. And with cameras as good as the K-5, FF can wait.

Not that rare in Beijing, I often see young people holding a K-r with different color.
But compare to Nikon Canon Sony olympus ...hoho ... we are "so" rare. lol.
