Went to Bondi today, and saw 2 Pentax cameras, one K200D on a English sounding women and a blue K-30 on a Japanese guy.

At a motor racing enthusiasts night (talking heads arrangement) someone in the audience had I think a white K-50. I was unable to get over to the other side of the room to high-five him.

We went to the circus last weekend, and in the row behind was an Asian family (non-English speaking), the mom had a nice red K-30 shooting away. Now, having seen it, I wish I'd been able to get the red one instead of black, but Oh Well I still love it.

Well my cousin bought a D3300 red.......... If that helps

As another of my photo classes start, the inventory of brands continues. THere is one K7 in the class out of 10 people. Mine!

I like being the teacher with something different. It makes them wonder what they missed!

Wandering around the ruins of Pompeii today, I spied a silver K20D! Europe seems to have a greater uptake than elsewhere.

...and, while visiting the lovely old city at Kotor in Montenegro last week, these chaps were happily mixing camera brands, as well as footwear.

The one that isn't a Nikon is a K-7/5/3 (I wasn't close enough to distinguish) with what looks like a Sigma Art lens of some sort.

Was in Pompei few days ago too... Didn't see anything special, but did find one Pentaxian girl in Matera while doing a trip in Italy.

Spent 3 weeks in Peru on a tour and only saw 2 Pentax cameras. One French lady at the Monasterio de Santa Catalina in Arequipa and the other a Japanese guy at Machu Picchu. I was expecting more, but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention

The only place in the world I have seen multiple Pentax cameras on multiple days of any trip has been Japan. There I see them in all over. Of course, I haven't been everywhere else in the world.

[Absurd throwaway line]

You wouldn't have been knocked back for a date, Nicolas - being a Pentaxian she obviously has low self-esteem.

I saw my first non-black Pentax in the wild this summer, something white with a white 18-55 attached to it.

My impression is that I've seen more Pentax cameras in my area than in previous years (rural Ontario). One of the local camera shops has even started carrying Pentax dslr's again, k-50/500, but their lens selection is non-existent outside of the kits.

People are VERY expensive.

Asahi started dismantling the USA distribution and support network and raising Dealer Minimums and restricting Dealer Financing Terms as early as 1989. It isn't as if they're not paying attention. They're doing this intentionally, and have been doing for a quarter century.

.
I'm not denying that this happened...or is still happening. I just wonder why would Pentax do this intentionally ?

How well do you think Ricoh is doing at marketing Pentax in North America ? Do you think things are getting any better ?

I was riding the Galveston-Bolivar (Texas, USA) Ferry across a surprisingly nice Galveston Bay this afternoon, and spotted a young lady with a child in one arm and a Pentax K10. Unfortunately, I must admit I was carrying a digital from one of the other manufacturers. I still cannot justify a digital switch (the N**** still works), but I love the ME-Super more every time I use it. I have only had for thirty years. Before long, I hope to make a switch!
