Not sure. Was in early January 2014 (might have been the first or second).

Could have been me. I was there on the Sunday 4 January, middle of the day at Jenolan Caves and late in the day around Katoomba.

Just checked the EXIFs of one of the pictures I took there, it was the 3rd of January Saw the K3 (and the owner attached to it) on the path leading down from/up to the large observation platform that offers a view of the Three Sisters.

Hmm ... are you sure your EXIF took into account International Dateline, etc?

Just looking for a mundane explanation here. :-)

Like the Leafs winning the cup... Pentax was big in the 60's.

At my friends school they have k50's for the students to use for their media assignments and to hire. They also had a competition last year where one student won a k50 bundle. Pentax isn't that rare here in Australia

Nah, I spent quite some time in Australia and set the date and time to AEST upon arrival.

I was in the state capital in Austin, Texas, yesterday for a meeting when I walked into a crowd of about 150 students from the University of Houston who were visiting our state's leaders. One of the students was photographing the event for the University with a Pentax K-5. Nice to see a communications major with a Pentax.

We Are 2 Pentaxians in our local Astronomy Club, being the North of Sweden, we have a population less than that of a small US city.
The one thing I do not understand with all of this... Why on earth do Conikians (that's a great term btw) constanty try to convert us like we are some kind of religious throwback?
Pentax is "as good as" if not better than the comparable Nikon and Canon, with the advantage of being cheaper.

Years ago I was out shooting with my local photo club my K10D. There was actually another guy with a K10D as well. I was with a friend of mine who was shot Cannon all his life. He had his expensive full frame Cannon with him. A young guy asked us why would anyone buy a Pentax. My Cannon friend looked to him and said, "well if you drop your Cannon or Nikon you are going to most likely cry, if you drop your Pentax you just dust it off and keep shooting. That is why people shoot with a Pentax". Again this came from a friend of mine who is a professional photographer who travels the world and only uses Cannons.
