When in Vietnam recently, over a couple of weeks I met two seperate Pentax DSLR users.......so we are out there! Even stopped and spoke to each other. Turned out they were quite normal.....not sure what they thought I was.....one Americanish (male) one Spanish (female).

I finally ran into another Pentax user at our local airport. The Experimental Aircraft Association had a Ford Trimotor in town, and as I was waiting to get on with my camera, a gentleman with a camera gave me an odd look as I was holding on to my K-3. I looked at his camera, and it was a Pentax DSLR. The first one I've run into in the wild.

Does it count that last night I had a good convo with two pentax shooters in my dream.

I dont remember though what the conversation was about but I do remember i thought to myself in the dream I am going to mention this on this thread.

It was only when I woke up that I realized it was a dream.

We'll hopefully see some more Pentax shooters once the full frame is out. Professionals will begin to pick up the full frame Pentax, beginners will follow and get a Pentax too.

a couple weeks ago I did the tourist thing in my town and it rains here unpredictable. I met frustrated people using their phones telling me they left there camera at the hotel. I smiled and said I shoot pentax no worries. Later in the rain people gasped as I walked out in the rain. "it's OK, I have a pentax."

Hi,

Just joined this forum and this is my first post.

Ha ha yes we Pentax users are different and daring to use something not common.

First camera was a point and shoot Pentax film camera (2002), excellent quality, still have it and works. Then entered into digital world with Olympus ultra zoom cameras (nice pictures but too noisy), then tried Kodak, Fuji, Panasonic FZ series, came back to Pentax dSLR K2000. Happy with it so far.

The camera is showing its age, want to get a new one, looking at K50 or K3. KS2 has the WiFi feature, which will be helpful in viewing the picture on the tablet and retake if necessary.

to the average person, pentax is considered inferior to canon and nikon, that is just a fact.

i love my new k-50 mainly because for the price and 3rd party lens available, you get equal or better quality compared to the other two brands.

Not one, but two?

That would indicate to the rest of us we were in a dream as surely as witnessing a giant banana pedalling a unicycle up the walls and across the ceiling. :-)

I volunteer at a zoo and I camera watch a lot and I'll see about 100-150 DSLRs in a 5 hour shift. About 80% of those cameras are Canons, Nikon is like 15% and the rest are usually Sony though a rare sight. Never seen a Pentax before. I saw 2 red DSLRs today, I thought they were Pentax but just red D3300's.

Was downtown Vancouver on Canada Day and saw an older gentleman with a Pentax. Recognized the "Pentax bump". Wasn't sure if he was a local or a tourist. Aside from the usual array of Canons and Nikons I saw some Fuijs, Olympus', a Leica, iPads, and various smartphones.

I was in Chicago a few weeks back, embarking on an architectural boat tour when I spotted a nice french gentleman with a K7, the only Pentax I saw all day. I didn't have my camera at the time so I used a few words to compliment the photographer on his choice of gear. I joked with him that knowing the whimsical Chicago weather he wouldn't have an issue in case it started to rain. He smiled and nodded.
