I took the K3 and K3II and a tripod to my booth at the local farmers market, placed the camera next to some of my prints, sold some prints, people were fascinated with the Pentax Cameras. Later I planned to photograph the gargoyles on the courthouse building that was behind my booth. As I did so two guys also walked up to photograph the courthouse. They had some serious looking gear with them. Lol, they did a 'shark circle' to investigate what I was doing but did not walk up and ask. I could see they were using at least 300mm lenses and one of the large cameras which I am suspecting was a canon had the grip attatched. I seen a lot of DSLR's that day. One lady seen the cameras and ask me for lens advise, ask me about the cameras and then I gave her the forum website. I think she has a Sony.

A friend picked up a Theta-S for his travels. He showed some of the images from Greece and D.C. It really is an amazing piece of tech. Being able to scroll and zoom those images is astonishing.

Maybe so but you can't turn off the display and look through the viewfinder so at events you would be just another annoying person with a cellphone in the air blocking someone else's veiw.
Yeah! I know the feeling.

I have never seen another Pentax in the trough / pit at a concert. I am frequently asked about my little camera. I've thought about putting a battery grip on my K5 to make it look bigger but usually just say it was very cold in my case.

The last Pentax I saw in public was a K-30 in Madrid and a panda K-01 in Paris. On the second occasion I was carrying my K-5IIs around my neck, so of course I had to point at the logo and give her a thumbs up as I walked by

That was almost a year ago, unfortunately. The only other Pentax DSLRs I have seen in my area are two K-50s owned by two friends, both bought at least partially due to my glowing recommendations

I shot Pentax Digital from 2006 - 2011. In that period, I ran into two other people shooting Pentax. From 2011 - Present, I have not run into a single person shooting Pentax.

I occasionally shoot with my K1000. I get strange looks from people who aren't sure what the Camera is.

So, yes, Pentax shooters are that rare.

Just noticed, that at least one person thinks Pentax can survive freezing cold:

Actual sighting @ 1m 56s, but the whole video is interesting.
When I was in Alert a few (10) years ago my photo tech photographer friend and I went out for a walk at 2 in the morning. It was a nice and balmy -35/-40. After a few hours of walking around we came back in due to her cameras no longer working.

I have to brag a little about the performance of my lowly Pentax k110d when I kept taking shots and documented her frozen Nikon ?D3?s

This upcoming weekend, something big is going on in my area. Sadly, I am unable to attend due to lack of money, but I can predict that if I was to go, and be able to look at every camera brought into this event, I would be able to see at least 5 and as many as 10, possibly as many as 20 Pentax cameras.

What is this event you ask? It is the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. All 200,000 seats are sold and with the general admission in the infield, the track is estimating around 350,000 in attendance this year.

Yeah, I think I could find 5 Pentax cameras there this next Sunday.

What an outrageous claim, that is at least 10% of all Pentaxians! I didn't know we loved auto sport so much.

I'm not sure how many people here could find the state of Indiana on a map ... but there are at least five of us as regulars here.

Compared to most of you, I would be a young Pentaxian though I may be older in actual age compared to most of you. In this digital era, I met just 3 Pentaxian in 4 years. The first was a teenager with I think a K-30 and an 18-270. Not so sure about that but I was an Olympus user that time. The second was an American. He had a k-7 with a da* 50-135. The next a Filipino American who had a k-50 with an18-55 lens. To count, that's less than 1 a year. That's really few but it doesn't matter. We are a rare breed but, we will never be extinct. We are the ones who are in the light!
