I remembered the old story of two sales agents. To paraphrase, it looked like this: Pentax sent two sales agents to the big city. After a few days he received messages from them. The first agent wrote: "Boss, it's hopeless here. No one has a Pentax camera!" A second agent wrote: "Boss, it's great here! Nobody has a Pentax camera!"
P.S. I hope that in this huge thread no one has ever quoted this story yet. I didn't check it!

That had to either be an OLD story or a "tall" one: TWO agents? ONE city?

Are (D)SLR users really THAT rare?

Perhaps this thread should morph into the question Are (D)SLR users really THAT rare?

I have not seen any other Pentax user since about 2000. Admittedly I do not generally go near popular tourist locations, I tend to be a lone shooter mostly of landscape, in the UK. But my seeing anyone with any sort of (D)SLR is rare. On a recent week's holiday I saw only one (looking around a castle ruin) who had what looked like a APS-c or even a 4/3, of some brand that was not Pentax.

I think we are becoming the equivalent of guys with 10x8 field cameras with glass plates being seen in the 1970's, superb picture quality but just odd. Not that it bothers me.

Except I saw one of those recently but not a Pentax. It was hard not to notice though. I might have passed by a Pentax unseen.

It wasn't Raglan Castle, was it? I was there not so long ago with a Panasonic G9 and a Leica M.

No, it was Laugharne. I've been to Raglan a few times though, not many miles from me.

I went out for a shoot today. I only saw a white mirrorless camera. Pentax wins, I got 2 Pentax cams with me.

Thanks for the concern. The Philippines has been hit by earthquakes several times this year. With God's grace our area hasn't been hit. Mindanao area is the one that's been continuously affected. We sent some contributions last month to assist them. Thanks again Fotus Tuus.

I once saw a young male Japanese tourist in the center of Stockholm with a yellow k-01 and I believe the 21 limited.
