That ME Super is like mine, except that the electronics already died on me. I still have it as well as its f/1.4 lens that came with it. The body I keep mainly for sentimental purposes but the lens due to its fastness.

Should have got an MX, the only electronics was the light meter, with mandraulic exposure setting. Can take photos without batteries.

When I joined Pentax in the mid-70's the they had the MX and the ME. I chose the MX because I did not want the camera handling auto exposure. I had been using a Yashica Lynx with a broken meter for almost 10 years so I was accustomed to everything manual. I am no longer such a purist

My 'pre Pentax Pentax' is an sixty seven year old AsahiFlex IIb with a Takumar 58/2.4 and,
aside from the camera being as old as I am, it, also, takes photos without light leak

Cheers and, BTW, the photo of me and me Asahiflex was taken by @secondteamkyle

Jack

cool story. Is "seconteamkyle" a member here?

I got MX in 1981 after a Ricoh XR500 because it fit my budget and had good reputation. I liked that it could take pictures without batteries. Improved reliability.

The 'we' of the title is indeed beginning to refer to people who carry cameras, not just Pentaxians. My brother visited us in Wales for the first time a few days back and we took him to some of the local attractions. At Rhossili - a great bit of much visited coastline - I saw one or two other cameras, and they belonged to people who appeared to be foreign tourists. In Tenby - a place where we drove around for half an hour looking for parking (and here are a lot of car parks) - I saw three other cameras. Cameras are definitely reverting to being specialist tools.

Like a comment I made here a while ago. I have not seen another Pentax camera since I've been a member here (4 years?), not that I go to crowded tourist areas. I last saw someone using any ILC two years ago, at Launceston Castle in Cornwall. It looked like an APS-C, a Canon I think.

I've actually seen a few Pentaxes in that time span - the last one a couple of years ago at an Augustus John exhibition in Poole Museum - make of that hat you will

Same here! I took my family to a nearby so called "Magic Town" in Northeastern Mexico and was able to spot only two cameras; a Nikon and a Canon. This time I didn't bring my K-3, but was in the lookout. This comes to me automatically nowadays (the lookout thing, that is).

Last week at a very busy RHS Garden at Harlow Carr. I saw a grand total of 6 cameras. Remarkably they were the Missus' PAS Sony, a Canon, 2 Pentax bridge cameras, a Pentax DLSR which I could not make the model out but looked like a Kx or similar and finally my own KP. To say I was surprised to see even one other Pentax is an understatement, but to see three others is a bit of a black swan event.

You are right. Actually, my first camera was a Spotmatic F that was stolen from me. We suffered a breakin.

At the time I worked at Honeywell who was distributing the Pentax brand, and bought a couple of MEs to resale and make some money. Once the Spotmatic was stolen I started using one of my for-sale cameras. And that was it.

My Yashica "Minister III was 'iffy', but I almost always want automation to take whatever part of the load that it can.

Only comment I had from a passer by when out with the Pentax is, wow, is that a Hasselbad. I explained Pentax also made medium format and I showed him the camera. He was genuinely fascinated by it

Spent the week walking around Banff and Lake Louise taking note of the various cameras. Most people are just using cell phones but there were a lot of more serious cameras. The most common were the little Sony A6xxx MILC with kit lenses. Next was Canon Rebel DSLR with kit lenses. 3rd was probably Sony A7 series followed closely by Canon FF DSLRs. Both these seemed to have various 24-70mm lenses and often tamron or sigma. I only noticed one Nikon FF and no Fujifilm except for an Instax. Walking around with my K1 I thought I would be the only Pentax wielding photographer until the last day when I ran into a gentleman carrying a K70 with the 18-135mm. Was kind of surprised by the lack of presence of both Nikon and Fuji.
