SMC Pentax 50mm 1.7M Vs Zeiss Pancolar 50mm 1.8

For Pentax Kx, I recently ordered?

Which one.

This is a tough one for me. I hear Zeiss glass is wonderful. Never had a chance to try one out. I do have the SMC M 50 1.7 and the SMC F 50 1.7 and both are sharp from 1.7 and get much sharper when you step them down. I also like the compact size of both lenses. I hope that helps! Nubi has some Zeiss glass and can give you a good review on them. The SMC M 50 1.7 should be cheaper than the Zeiss and probably easier to find too. Good luck and enjoy your amazing high iso capable machine :-)

Here are few things you need to consider:
1) Zeiss is m42 mount vs K mount for the m50/f1.7 => you need to buy an m42->k-mount adapter if you go with the Pentax. A genuine adapter from Pentax is about $40-$50
2) Since Zeiss is M42 so can pretty use on any other DSLR brands with proper adapter
3) I have both copies and regarding optic quality, each has its own characteristic, so you would have to rely on yourself by looking at the reviews or images that are posted here
4) Price wise I think you can get the 50/f1.7 around $40-$60 while Zeiss is around $70-$90 so cost efficiency => M50/f1.7 all the way
5) Size: the M50/f1.7 is smaller and lighter than the Pancolar

I would buy both :P as they are both great lenses.

I have the adapter so that's okay, Price is the same on the lens on ebay actually :P and I can't find any pictures with the pancolar here or anywhere other then ones from 05...

I have both, the Zeiss Pancolar has better bokeh, it's very smooth. But the Pentax 50mm is much cheaper and smaller. Price on the Zeiss Pancolar is at less double of the Pentax (Pentax M 50mm K mount) and it's harder to find.
