Comfortable Cameras

I was in a camera store recently and had the chance to play with a D700. Needless to say, it fit my hand perfectly. More so than my k200d. So that got me thinking,

What is the most comfortable camera that you have had the chance to play with, Pentax or not?

Right now...I'd say the D700. Being as I am 6'6" I've got some pretty big hands.

Not that I've held that many cameras (Nikon D3000, various Canon rebels, Nikon D2, Pentax *istDL, and a few others), but the Pentax K200D has been, so far, easily the most comfortable to grip and hold.

I like the T2i, the 7D and 5D were way too big for my small hands. The K7 is nice, but right in between letting me slip my pinky under the camera or having all my fingers on the grip so that gets annoying sometimes.

After getting familiar with the K7 it was really odd every time I held my Kx, that thing is really really tiny

Going from my K200d to holding an Oly e-620 is quite a difference as well! Where the grip on the k200d is fairly deep. The e-620 barely has any depth at all.

I too have large hands. Not huge beefy hands, but big with long fingers. Finding a relatively light body with controls that I can work has been a bit of a challenge. I like the Nikon D300 and D700, but not that much more than my K10D. I have yet to hold a Canon that felt good in my hand. Sonys just feel weird. Ditto for Olympus. The K-7 is nice, but only when paired with the optional grip.

The most comfortable cameras I've ever held are my K10D and my PZ-1. When it comes to comfortable operation, the title goes to my Super Program. Easiest thing in the world to take pictures with.

Critically uncomfortable:

Nikon D60 feels so weird, and cheap. Sony A330 actually hurts.

I love my old Canon EOS 600, it's a big heavy old thing that fits my hands like a glove, being big the buttons aren't crammed together and they are a decent size, big enough to use with gloves.

A bit like the Pentax K10, I looked at Canon digitals but the decent ones in my price range at the time were small and fiddly. Once I'd picked up a K10 in a shop, and learned it was weatherproof, the choice was made.

It's why it's important to have cameras on sale in shops where people who want something that feels right can get their hands on it.
Now that no dealer within about 100 miles of me is stocking Pentax I very much doubt if I would repeat that buying experience.

Pentax SPII. That's why it's definitely my favorite camera and why I fell in love with Pentax in general. I love the feel of a Pentax in my hands. It fits. All the ones I've had the opportunity to use, same thing. That plus amazing lenses (Takumars) is why I'm such a Pentax snob.

I've held a D70 and D80, they were confortable but had a strange feeling. I've got small hands and I must say the K-x size is perfect (not THAT perfect but a 99/100). As it's the first DSLR i own, the feelling and weight are still odd but they represent no problem.

I cannot remember every camera I have held but from the ones I do remember, the K7 wins hands down. 5D MKII, 7D, Kx, K200D, some Sony's, and to be honest I think Pentax makes the most comfortable for my relatively small hands.

K-7 or Nikon F65. One of the main reasons I didn't get a Canon 40D was the size difference.

So far most cameras have pretty good grip for my hands. I have tried canon 1000d, nikon d5000, nikon d90.

Using pentax k-x now and i love the grip, its ergonomic.

sony a230 and a330 are just horrible. a330 is a well-featured camera but with poor ergonomic.

The Pentax K7 with the grip. My Olympus OM-4 with a winder is/was pretty comfortable to use as well.

I've had *isDL, K10/20 and K-x. I love the feel of the Kx over the others and I don't have small hands. It just feels right. I started looking at Pentax after feeling a K100, D40 and Rebel in Ritz a couple of years ago. The Pentax just felt better and also better built.
