Started out with a Fujica STX-1 35mm in 1996 or so,
my next door neighbor at the time was an experienced
freelancer, he got me interested in action photography.

Covered so many building fires, car crashes, crime scenes etc.
with him and he gave me good photo tips, I even ended up publishing over
a hundred photos in various newspapers over a 4-5 years period.

We had a great arrangement with a local photo shop;
walked in, did our own film develloping / operate the
print machine, pay and walk out to deliver pics to the
newspaper ASAP, in/out in 20 minutes or so.

Got my first digital camera in 2002 or 03, a Fuji S602Z,
what a revolution! Being able to review pic/confirm the right
exposure instantly without waiting for film processing and then
just e-mailing them to the newpapers without having to drive
downtown, that made the hobby even more enjoyable.

The S602Z still works, gave it to a friend as a spare camera,
replaced it with a Fuji S9100 in 2006 and now a have Pentax K-x,
all of them never been used in 'auto' mode, always in 'M' mode
because of my experience gained in 35mm.

My first SLR was a Mamiya-Sekor MSX 500 with a 50mm f/2 screw mount lens. I still have this camera and a few other screw mount lenses. After that I had graduated to an OM-1 and had a lot of OM equipment that was all stolen in a house break in (ARRGGGHHHH). I then shot with a Canon AT-1 and a F1 that I still have . All this brought me to my K1000D that I love working with.

Phil.
First used - my father's Argus C3 - late 60's - 1973 (I recently inherited it)
Some Instamatics
First owned - KXand K50/1.4 - (college graduation present) - 6/1977
Most used - MESuper Kit with M50/1.4 and AF200-S - (business sales contest prize) 1984 (finally died - even Eric couldn't keep it going)
Some Canon PnS film bodies that are still useable
Olympus E20-n - second-hand, which was, by the way, a very nice camera.
Whole series of buy-try-sell Pentax film bodies
K10D - 2007

Kx was my first ever (any)SLR. Wasn't quite old enough to get into the film era of photography.

Yep those KX's are something special. I just had a crappy Kodak Instamatic before my KX, still shot Kodachrome on it though.

My Dad's Minolta film camera (I don't remember what model.) Or would you consider an Etchasketch?

Actually, my first SLR was the Auto 110 but it was the K100D that broke down the darkroom door and allowed me to get into photography in a serious way.

Minolta X300 followed by X500 and then a second hand XD7. They were all good to use but the XD7 was fantastic and I regret selling it.

First SLR - EXA - late 60's
During the 70's Fujica ST801, ST901, AZ-1.

Still here - still working. If I had the room, I would build a darkroom and shoot nothing but B&W.
