Where'd you start - 35mm SLR or dSLR?

I'm curious about what percentage of people on this forum started back in the film era with a 35mm SLR vs. more recently with a dSLR. This is about SLRs, so if you started with a point and shoot or TLR or some other format, think about the first SLR that you bought. Thanks for playing!

I'll be interested to see the results. It is my impression that a larger percentage of Pentaxians are film era holdovers.

Started getting serious with photography with my dad's film SLR, but not a Pentax: an Olympus OM-1. Used an F30 P&S for a while before I got a DS, mostly because of the legacy glass that I did not have, but could easily get second hand.

You left out 35mm rangefinder.
I started out with a mid 50s Fujica 35ML rangefinder that was of very good quality, moved to a Pentax Spotmatic for a while, then Olympus OM-1, Nikon F2s (and moving from there to an F3 and some lesser bodies), and finally to Pentax again, this time with an LX and some K1000s.

I always wanted to have an slr, and when digital technology came to photography, that made it really interesting. I started with my first p&s which was a nice Pentax Optio W10, waterproof, etc. loved it. someone stole it and then that's when i decided I'd get a slr and looked at Pentax first. :-)

Used to "borrow" my dads Spotmatic back in the 70's. It was the one without the lightmeter because we had a separate light meter (i think it was a Leningrad) dangling from a bootlace tied to the the strap.

First one I actually bought was a Pentax Z-10 in 1991 (couldnt afford a Z-1)

A hand-me-down "repaired" Kowa 66 that may in fact never have worked for me after the repair. Got credit for repair charges toward a Fuji ST901.

My first camera was an old manual SLR handed down from my father when I was in high school. I learned the basics there but promptly forgot almost everything as I moved through a couple of P&S film and digitial cameras before getting my first DSLR and learning photography all over again.

Haven't shot film (yet).

Started with the original Canon Digital Rebel in 2004.
Switched to the Pentax and the K10D in 2007.
