Future new Pentax owner

I want to get a K100D.
I will be using this for weddings.

The reason I narrowed it down to the K100D is price and the IS.

My question is does someone have a list of old old affordable K mount lenses I can look for (50 1.4, 85 1.8, 28-135mm)?

thanks.

The reviews section of this site is a great place to start. Most of the M and A lenses are very well regarded. The newer lenses are more mixed in their reviews.

I had the same questions on lenses when I bought the K10D. The pentax lens review page on this site is excellent for determining the quality of a specific range of lenses. I looked at reviews on those in the mm length and image quality I wanted and then googled them to obtain sites that had them for sale. As a pricing source it is a little outdated as the advent of the K10D seems to have pushed the demand and therefor the price of all pentax lenses to new highs. Ebay, KEH, and a few canadian stores seem to have the best prices on used older lenses. Good luck with your hunt.

Good choice of camera.

Before you shoot someone's wedding, let me encourage you to get a backup body. If your one-and-only camera goes bad during the wedding, you have blown it on someone's once in a lifetime event.

You don't have to spend the same on a backup body -- go for a K110D, or even a used *ist. It's cheap insurance, and you can also have two different fast prime lenses attached to your two bodies, and switch instantly between them.

Weddings can be a brutal experience for a camera -- running nonstop for hours, firing hundreds (or thousands) of shots, lots of flash usage, taking a camera inside and outside where they are exposed to extremes of heat and cold and humidity and dry air conditioning, plus weather if it starts to rain. The K100D isn't even weather-sealed. A backup is really needed.

Good luck and let us know how you do!
