K7D Disable shutter release when there is no memory card in the camera

So, my wife and I had a K20 and K10 that i recently sold when we got a couple of K7's. I'm still getting myself accustomed to the new body and this morning i was playing around shooting some quick shots. I wasnt being totally serious but to my horror when i looked down i realized that there was no memory in the camera!

I could have sworn that the older bodies would not fire when there was no memory installed but i cant find a menu option on the K7 to make it behave that way. Google so far has not answered the question for me so i'm hoping that you fine Pentax friendly folks could help.

Thanks

There is no custom function to disable shutter release. A message is shown on the back LCD, however, so you'll notice right away if you're used to checking your photo directly after taking it.

The camera will only not fire when the SD card door is open.

My K100D fires away happily W/O a card. I mainly use the USB port on my K7.

Thanks for the replies...

I guess i'm not remembering correctly but i'm surprised that i never made this mistake before. I guess if i cared much for what i was shooting that i would have peeped at the histogram but i didnt.

Oh well. I'll just have to be careful.

Have you closed the memory card door on your cameras?
