Colour Issues with *ist DL

I have had my *ist DL for about 4 yrs now. I would really like to upgrade to the 20D but finances aren't available.

Anyway, I have only just noticed that my *ist DL is not giving true colour. I was trying to take a photo of my purple flowers the other day but no matter what settings I had they showed up bluish when the photo was taken.

Someone suggested that I "ICC profiling" my screen (I dont know if they meant my computer screen or the camera screen). Can anyone fill me in on this? It shows the bluish colour instead of the purples on the camera and computer screens.

Is there any other way to fix it? Or is it just something that I have to deal with until I get better camera? I have only noticed it with purples so far.

Any help would be wonderful.

It's also quite possible the issues have to do with WB and exposure. If using AWB, the camera might be seeing the purple and thinking it is blue with red light and therefore trying to remove the red light. A WB adjustment in cmaera in in PP would fix that. It's also possible the red channel is clipping from ovderexposure, and the blue is relatively stronger in comparison. Backing off on the expousre (before shooting) would help with that.

Presuming that your devices are calibrated properly (correct WB and calibrated monitor), it is entirely possible that you've run into a colour that can't be reproduced properly.
This is actually fairly common, and is caused by differences in the way the human eye/brain translates colour vs the way film/digital sensors translate colour.
You may find that a different camera fixes it for the colour you noticed is deficient, only to find that the new camera doesn't reproduce some other colour properly.
