Who has the highest number of shutter actuations with K10d, 20d?

I'm up over 110,000 shutter actuations on my K20d. I am curious about the durability of these cameras. Who has a count over 100,000 and how high is it?

As I learned more I reduced how many shots I needed to take. Since I do not work professionally I doubt I would ever get near 100,000. But good to know I can!

That's mighty impressive. Shooting on average of 100+ shots a day to achieve 110,000!

I'm not bragging. Quality always trumps quantity in photography.
I just stay busy, and shoot a lot of bracketed DNG,s for HDR use.

The very best shooters are like gunslingers. They always seem to hit it in just a few shots, if not just one.

Surely someone on this forum has shot one of these cameras to death! I'd be interested to
know the shutter count even if it's only a rough estimate.

I shoot on many weekends 600-750 shots at vintage car shows.

On Saturday at the drag strip.... 408...today 351....then 165 on Thursday at public garden...then on Wednesday on a road trip...215.

Let's see...that's 1139 in one week.

BTW, I also used my KM on Wednesday and Saturday ....probably clicked off 400 shots with this body.

Come to think of it, I didn't shoot...Monday, Tuesday and Friday.....but 1539 shots, using two Pentax bodies in the past week.

Death for my k10d shutter came early. Just over 10k shots. I got a k7 but also got the k10 repaired by pentax. They replaced the mirror box and lens mount also. Although I can't remember dropping it I suspect somewhere along the way my camera had a severe bump.

My 1st K10D died after some 25000 odd shots... the mirror was messed up
My K10D GP is only over 7300 actuations. I hope it'll last longer... no matter what, ain't selling this one, will have it repaired/serviced at whatever cost!

A few months back on the other forum somebody claimed to have put 140,000+ on a K20 and it was still going strong.

110000 and more is an impressive number. I doubt I have taken 100k in my life. Let alone with one camera. The two current ones (K10D is about 5.5k and my K20D is a baby about 700 including the factory test shots).

On that fateful day, I am wondering if the mirror will loosen from its fixture and damage the rear element of whatever lens you had happened to mount?

Ok, that's exactly the kind of impressive and encouraging information I was hoping for. Thanks JHD.

With Pentax's reputation for producing rugged durable weather-sealed cameras I would have thought
more people on this forum would be pushing their cameras to the limits. Perhaps upgrade fever prevents this.
If so it's kinda' sad.

What a Horror! I have never thought of that possibility, but I suppose it could very well happen.
Now I'm going to have nightmares.

Not in the camera's menu. You need to download PhotoMe or some similar
exif data reading software that gives you all of the exif information. You open
your last-shot file in PhotoMe and under the camera tab it will give you a total
shutter actuation count for your camera, along with much more detailed data.

I bought the K20d when it first came out. I remember reading in my research that the shutter was rated @ "over 100,000 actuations." I am impressed to see that rating verified here--thanks.
