Could you please post a 100% crop of one of those images showing some of those defects?
It would be interesting to see them up close.

I had this exact same problem when I used my Fuji S5600. ALL my photo's had blocks in them. It turns out the SD card was faulty. Even some of the photo's I took where half greyed out, like it was missing half a photo. I change from the cheap brand name card they gave me with the camera to a sandisk card and problem solved. Hasn't happened since. Might be worth investing in a better SD card.

That would certainly explain it and rule out the sensor.. Maybe not a tragedy after all.. Where have you Been with this information
