If you need an EVF on a Pentax body ...

... are you using a Hoodman loupe on a K-7? I'm just wondering if this is workable to get an idea of what an EVF DSLR would be like. I also have to wonder if mirrored DSLR bodies were to offer a built in way to attach a loupe like this, no straps, if it would be looked on with derision or accepted as a workable compromise?

Thank you
Russell

I think the normal use is just to be able to see the LCD screen in bright light.

Thank you

speaking of bright light,I have heard some stories of people burning holes in their LCD screens with contraptions like that.

I wonder if a cap on it would work to prevent that?

Thank you

Why is it funny? the loupes are used a lot for video as you can only use the lcd screen, and the 5DMKII is pretty big in the video world

I looked into it to, but not yet bought it. I think it's handy for use in video or liveview. Don't know anyone who uses it. It should give a good view of the screen when outsite light is troubeling you.

It made for 3 inch screens and a lot of camera's are using the same size today.

I don't see the point, aside from video mode.

most other uses for live view are to be able to have the camera away from the eye, usually above, and still frame the shot.

except for video, if you are going to be looking at the camera directly at eye level, the optical fiewfinder is far superior.

I use a EV bridge camera for work, and the electronic finder is pretty grainy in low light
