Just Passed 20K Snaps on my K2000

And most of the last 10K were taken using a DA-L 55-300. I think both the K2000 and the DA-L lens are somewhat under-appreciated. They are both capable of producing quality photos even if they aren't the latest and greatest. I take on average 500-1000 pictures every weekend and this combo has never let me down.

If anyone is curious this is a link to an example of where most of my photo efforts go

Around The DZ - August 14 - 15 2010

That weekend is mix of photos using my K2000, and my first outing with my Sigma 10-20, on my K200. To those who look, plz enjoy.

FYI the sig on my shots is "Photo by YoBo"

Very nice pictures. The parachute ones are great. The K2000 is a good camera, however, the K-X overshadow it in popularity.

Thank you. No doubt the K-X overshadows the K2000 in almost all ways. You might even say the K2000 was a mere spaceholder in the lineup until the K-X could come online. With new models soon to be released the K2000 will probably drop even further into obscurity. Too bad because I think it could become a fairly inexpensive but very capable backup camera for many people. So far I've no problem with it's durability.

Surprisingly, the K2000's 5-point AF system that was widely criticized turns out to be a plus for me. I found that both the DA and DA-L versions of the 55-300 tend to go into focus hunt when picking out skydivers in a clear sky using only the center point, resulting in many lost shots. Using all 5 focus points in auto mode has practically eliminated the problem and with practice I've been able to get my desired focus point in more crowded scenes as well.

Aren't these cameras such great fun?
Before too long you won't even blink at another 20,000.
Congratulations!

Now who wants to volunteer loaning me their DA 55-300 for seven days? Just to see if I made the right choice a few months ago and got something else?
