Dang! you've got me very interested now, and will be very painful to wait until the 20th

How could the anti-shake be combined with the AF-Module?

Does anyone know the different between Safox VIII+ on K-7 and the Safox IX on 645D and upcoming K-R? I think the Safox IX is slightly wider..but any different in terms of speed and accuracy (esp. in low lit or larger aperture like F1.4) ?

Vincent
Apparently the difference is approximately I/II.

It one of the upside of stabilized lens: the light hitting the AF sensors are also stabilized, that improves AF with long lenses. If Pentax can stabilize the AF module just like the sensor it could somewhat do something similar.

Same with AF. How many people would choose a K-r with SAFOX VIII over a K-r with the Nikon 51-point Multi-CAM 3500DX for the same price? Hopefully the SAFOX IX will show great improvements, it's one of the only things that make me consider switching system from time to time.
I am in agreement with you on this subject.
A fast/accurate/able-to-track-and-to-lock AF system is a must for the type of photos I like to take.
But maybe I am asking too much already!?

The link to the patent was posted as comment #38 on my current blog article and reposted by ogl here (in a thread I don't remember). It describes a second SR-frame mounting the AF module (so, both could antishake independently when at work). The idea probably is to give the AF module more time to measure its contrast before it is blurred which should make it work in the near dark.

I meant to reply with that as a joke but thought it was a bit over the top.

A little conclusion of my experience with Pentax (Kr)...

I already heard about the problems of the Pentax autofocus systems but I thought it was urban myth. Now, after experience with kr and still unsolved problems of k5, I think that myth is largely true. For me, the autofocus must be a secure, fast and accurate system. Unfortunately, when one of these features suffers, the system does not meet expectations. I don't know Safox8, but they say that safox9 is much faster than him. Unfortunately, Pentax increased the speed in the detriment of precision.
