I think it's good news that they appear to have kept the K-7 form factor. I always much admired the compactness and handling of the K-7.

It's real.

Apparently is fully compatible with K-7 grip.
if the grip is k7/k5 compatible, excellent!

I stood up for us in there. It never ceases to amaze me how people equate spending more money with taking better pictures.

Since it just like K7 I doubt it will have AA support (without additional grip that is). Seems like I'll be with K20D for better or worse till death do us part.

Don't understand why AA support in camera for a high-end model is important?

Pentax fanboys take a bit more time taking photos with their cameras, and less time justifying their purchase in forums.
This says it better than I've ever seen it stated.

Re the K5, I'm waiting to see what is inside (and for the bugs to be worked out) before I consider tossing my K7 to the side.

Please don't toss it to the side. Send it to me, I'll pay for shipment. It will be a nice upgrade from my grampa old istDL.

I may be happy to at that point but it'll cost a little more than shipping

2 things are going to have to be on the K5 though. Predictive autofocus so I can take sharp pictures of the hound running around the back yard, and Kx like high ISO performance. Otherwise, I see no point in buying a K5 (for my use)..

I'm sorry but that 4th row of nubs on the mode dial is a deal breaker for me. I was actually hoping that the next body would have 2 rows and not 3. Going to 4 rows of nubs has a profoundly negative impact on IQ, ISO, SR, APS-C, WR, DA (and FA too) and is completely against where the marketplace is going. Canon and Nikon pro bodies have 2 rows of nubs on their mode dials and the rumor is that Sony will be releasing a 1 row mode dial at Photokina.

Some might argue that this is a camera for advanced amateurs and that 4 rows of nubs are appropriate. But Canon and Nikon pro cameras have 2 rows of nubs and if Pentax wants to be taken seriously they need to move in that direction now. Otherwise, we'll be seeing the PentaxForum marketplace flooded with used cameras with 3 and 4 rows of nubs as the most respected photographers in this forum move to 2 rows of nubs with other brands.

This is the beginning of the end for this once vaunted brand.

I don't know if this was already posted, but in addition to the mode wheel and the AF switch, also the front wheel is different. I believe this is a genuine picture and the K-5 being so similar to the K-7 fits the rumored dimensions which are the same as K-7's.
Yet another great find
