how hard would it be to get a bios update for the k20 that allowed live view to be recorded to memory as a video file?

It won't happen, at least not from Pentax.

And Pentax has a very loyal following, but most of us are photographers not firmware hackers. I doubt we'll see anything like CHDK anytime soon.

I love my k20 just as i loved my mz50 but now i carry a w80 as well as the k20 in case i want to take some video it would be nice is all im saying

Use live view, and try to shoot something with it. I don't think the buffer in the camera would be able to save the video in the first place, but also, the video quality would be fairly terrible.
