Mirror up (MLU) on the K7 - Who's using that ...

...

for things other than evening/night shots?

Curious if this method is being used for other-than-low-light conditions.

I browsed through the search engine here on this forum and pretty much all I could find were situations where people used MLU in the dark.

Is there anything else to it?

JP

I always use it for macro shots when on a tripod.

I use it always for landscape photography on a tripod and on any subject that doesn't move (also on a tripod)

Why didn't I think of that? That's the reason why I asked ... I had no idea!

Thanks, Adam.

+1 in the form of the 2-sec timer and preferably activated with a remote.

Pal, pcarfan ... thanks for the tip!

Obviously, I haven't used that mode that much (if at all!)

I've got to get out there and start taking more pics instead of reading about the K5 rumours!

Cheers.

How noticeable is the difference? Is this something that is generally recommended as a good habit to get into? (under the right situations)

I also use the 2s delay timer for tripod shots. I never used the actual MLU option, except once to see that it actually works

Here is the whole story, it's better using mirror lock in the shots longer than 1/60 or even 1/125 sec.

This going to look like a dumb question: when using the 2s delay timer, can you not also have MLU or does that come automatically?
Gees, I am better go back to read the manual ...!

Thanks ... just finished going over this thread. According to most posters, we don't use this feature often enough.
I also read that one does not need "low shutter speeds" in order to benefit from that feature?

...one can easily get drawn into a new release, I had it bad when they came out with the K-7 and went through a crazy roller coster ride.

The 2-sec timer automatically sets the MLU mode and disables SR, pretty neat on a tripod.....I don't think I've ever used the MLU alone. I even use it for telephoto, if I think I need to crop it later to get as sharp an image as possible.

I hope you get your telephoto lens bud, (Pentax is WAY overdue on this)...I unfortunatley am moving away from telephoto.

P.S: Also, I have to say, with all this care to get sharp shots at 100% view, I have not experienced the shutter blur issue in practical use.

From memory, you get MLU with the delay automatically and it's not optional - why wouldn't you want it? MLU immediately lifts the mirror up.

About any shot I am taking from a tripod using a remote. Just a little better resolution. Why not?
