K10D and Vivitar 105mm PK-A/R mount?

Hey folks.. I just, as in a few hours ago, purchased a brand new Vivitar Series 1 105mm f2.5 Macro from Trader Jims.. I noticed this lens is a PK-A/R mount.. Will I have any issues with mounting this on the K10D?

I've heard of problems with a spring loaded pin or something because the lens is for Pentax and Ricoh mount..

Thanks all.

so... removing this pin will in no way screw the lens up? Can you post a photo of which pin to remove? Thanks.

I "converted" a Tokina 28mm PK/R lens. As mentioned, unscrew the plate, and the pin will fall out.

I tested the lens, before and after, on a surplus SF-10 body. No difference in operation. After the surgery I safely use it on my *ist DL.

Apparently the springloaded pin will get stuck in the AF screwdriver... not pretty... and not easy to get off.

it'll be fine

Quite a few of us have Trader Jim's 105. It was a great deal and it's hard to find NOS items nowadays...

Exactly. It mounts and unmounts just fine on the K10D without any modifications.

This is interesting.. I spent the afternoon researching the Vivitar Series 1 105mm macro that TraderJims is selling and found out that, Although he states and the packaging states, that it is a PK-A/R mount, these lenses do NOT have the Ricoh pin. Very strange but, I'm not complaining..

So, show me some shots you guys have taken with this lens..

Here is a shot of my wifes cat taken with the Vivitar 105mm f2.5. This one was taken @ f4.0. I'm still learning, but just wanted to show it works well for things other then macro's too. Macro photography is harder then it looks!

Macro Lighting

I really liked your macro shots. What type of lighting did you use? I have the AF360FGZ but have not tried to use this with the vivitar 105.

Not sure if you mean mine (thanks if you do ), but I'll answer anyway... They were all taken with natural light only, except my son's "portrait" which used the pop-up flash for a bit of fill-in.

I own a Sigma EF500 SUPER accessory flash, but it's currently at Sigma Canada for a firmware upgrade to enable wireless mode. Your AF360 should work fine with the Vivitar 105mm.
