Those getting a K-5 : What will you be upgrading from?

After reading lots of comments from K-7 owners saying the K-5 doesn't offer enough reasons/value for them to upgrade, it got me wondering exactly who the target market for the K-5 is - Existing users upgrading or new users?

I have a K10D and I think the K-5 offers significant improvements in several key areas (including low-light AF, AF speed, etc.) so I definately intend on getting one.

Those of you who have already decided you want a K-5, what will you be upgrading from?

I think I've convered all the options, but I'm sure someone will chime in saying I've missed something!

Thanks,

Adam

As I said in another thread, I love my K7 and the K5 is like a K7 on steroids. But I'm not getting rid of my K7 for a while. I need a second body. I may eventually sell it to get a second K5, when the price has really come down.

I'm donating the KX to my niece. Keeping the K7 and buying a K5.

Interesting idea for a thread -- I'm curious to see where this poll goes. Assuming the K-5 delivers in the areas of improved high ISO and AF speed/accuracy, I'll upgrade once the price drops.

I got a K100D as my first DSLR (or SLR of any kind) in 2007, with the idea that if I really start to enjoy this whole "photography thing" (as opposed to the point and shoot and pray thing I had been doing before), I'd eventually step up to a more robust body. Nothing in the K100d Super, K200d, K10d, K20d, KM, K-X or K7 made me think an upgrade would be worth it (more a testament to the awesomeness of the K100d than anything else). But the K-5 seems to tick all the right boxes for me. Hoping it delivers on its potential!

I have a K100D Super and I will be upgrading my body. I have focused enough on lenses and I have more than enough to satisfy my LBA :-D

I need (want) a second body so I can make the K-7 my back-up. No other real reason for getting the K-5.

I will be upgrading from a K20. I'm hoping the AF is as fast and accurate as what has been said about it.

X2

Upgrading from my K100D, the K-7 was okay but AF too slow, buffer to small... build quality superb, size OK, viewfinder superb.
Got my K100D in Q1 2007 and still going on with over 30k shoots but like I said slow slow, pentax should seriously do something on the AF system for me the only minus!
Don't know how much will it be in Europe and what kit to get, like the WR lenses
Any proposal ?

Technically I'll be upgrading from my K-7, but I plan to still keep that camera as well at the moment.

*ist D
I don't use the *ist D anymore, though. I have been using my 2 k1000s, LX, and 67ii. But I think I'm ready to have a dslr again.

More concerned on how fast I can get K-5

I'll be upgrading from a K20D. I moved from film to a K10D which I sold to a friend. This time I'll keep the 20D as a second camera.

No question as to the upgrade in my mind. My only thought is how fast can I get it.

Provided of course the auto focus is significantly improved and the noise is as controlled as it appears, I will finally be making the move to upgrade from my k10d. I will be keeping the K10d of course as a backup body.

When I had to send it in for repair last year, I was without a camera for six weeks and almost went nuts. K10d is still an excellent camera and it works great for most of my work which is primarily nature shots. K5 will give me the speed I need for action shooting, especially birds and people.

Skipped the K-7

I have a K20D as main camera and K10D as backup. I'll probably sell either the K10D or the K20D and replace it with a K-5.

I voted, but I think the poll is missing another layer of information that'd have been interesting to know -- not just whether folks are planning to upgrade, but when. (Not that this could easily have been combined into the poll, I know.)

Personally, I already have it in the back of my mind to upgrade from my K-7 eventually, but it's likely to be fairly late in the K-5's lifetime, because I have other things ahead of a new body on my wish list. (Mostly lenses, and a second flash strobe.)
