Shooting and recording voice

i was at a party a couple of days ago, and a photographer came of a magazine. He was shooting a photo and then recoding his voice in the camera by saying the names of the people he took photo.

These are kind of special cameras that do it? I never thought that this is the way that photographers collect the names. I thought they would just write it on a piece of paper

It depends on the camera model. My fisrt point-and-shoot digital camera had that option, it was called "audio tag" and could record 30 seconds of audio after each shot. However, voice records were stored separately on the memory chip.

There's another way to do the things. For example, Pentax K-x has photo tagging system where you can add a text file to the photo. But typing a text isn't easy and obviously will take longer than recording an audio file.

Fekish - Quite a number of cameras, even P&S, record voice tags to images.

My Canon SX10 does 1-minute ones, see Page 189 of the SX10 Manual.

The SX10 also records good-quality Audio-Only, in WAV format, Stereo, at 11k, 22k and 44k qualities. The limit is 2 hours, if the card is large enough.

I don't know if the SX20 and new SX30 do the same - it would seem likely that they do.

My Fuji HS10 records up to 30-second voice tags to images, see Page 101 of the HS10 Manual.

You might find DSLRs that do HD video which also do as those Bridge cameras, if not rather better.

photo of the paper

When I shoot and need to record something, I will write it down but then take a photo of it right after the photo. That way I won't loose it. Also take photo of my hand to indicate a point on a shoot, for example, thumb up is beginning of a pano and a thumb down is the end of a sequence.
