Wireless flash vs extension cord

My K10D is somewhat sluggish when I use the AF360 wireless on a bracket. Would a hot shoe cable to flash improve performance? The long delay and flashes do not make it effective when shooting people.

It will at least leave SR active as wireless disables it. It will allow for AF assist on the 360FGZ instead of the vrrrrtt vrrrrt of the on board. The performance you can judge for yourself. If the performance seems better with the flash in the camera's hotshoe, then it will be the same on a cable.

Thank you

Yes ... what Russel said ... and .... also you can use HSS for faster than 1/180 shutter speed. Useful for if you want to have shallow dof control and darker backgrounds (less ambient light).

With only 1 external flash on wireless 1/180 is your upper limit.

Extension cord also enable auto flash head zoom.

As far as I know, the only digital camera that can engage wireless HSS controller with pop-up flash is *istD.
