Highlight and shadow options

Just wondering what other people think of these options, and how well they improve dynamic range?

I usually shoot RAW but I use it now and then when shooting in JPEG's with the K7 and I noticed a bit of improvement in DR.
Might as well use it while it's there, in JPEG that is.

I tested out the sharpness with Shadow Correction (I'm assuming this is what you're asking about) just today. Text is noticeably less sharp with Shadow Correction on (level 3). It does definitely help with underexposed shadows but at the cost of significant sharpness reduction (when zoomed all the way in).
