K10D seems to have a very usable continuous mode

All shot on DA70 Ltd at f/2.8 (so the camera was working hard to keep the bird in focus) - pretty much auto everything in JPG mode.

Even though the K10D was nominally 3fps "until the card is full" in JPG mode, in reality the limitation is AF speed - I would guess the camera is achieving only around 1.5-2fps.

Unprocessed for the most part and minimal cropping, fairly close range (bird flew metres away from me):

Look at the wing span on that thing!

The K10d has always been a capable camera. One just has to learn to work within it's limits.

Very nice. You had the camera in AF-C mode? I have never had a huge amount of success with that mode to be honest, but I do not do too much shooting of moving people/objects. I just might have to give it another chance.

the first comment is turn off auto everything.

any automatic process, AWB on the K10D for example slows it down.

AF-C should not interfere with the frame rate because there is no interlock of focus confirmation with the shutter. AF-S would really slow it down if the subject is moving because of the interlock.

I have never had any issue with the K10D having a frame rate slower than what I need.
