Get the GX10 - I've been more than impressed with mine.

I also own the GX-10 & find it very impressive - it's 99% the same as the K10D so personally I wouldn't even consider specifications between the K10D/GX10 - just cost.

I bought the GX-10 with twin lens kit for less than the K10D with 18-55 so it was a bargain.

Ignore the rubbish posted here about .jpgs (& in the dpreview.com review) - it's a non-issue, the user simply needs to read the manual & change a simple menu setting !!

Also the comment regarding using .DNG format for RAW files is also a non-issue, infact the .DNG format is probably the only one guaranteed to be supported by Adobe in future. Speed wise I find it excellent, in .jpg or RAW.

I don't own the K100D so can't provide a comparison - I can simply say that the GX-10 is an excellent camera & no doubt the equal of the K10D

JPEG? What's that? Oh yeah, it's that compressed tiny image I make for uploading to my website as an after-thought to producing the print version of the image.

If you don't like the JPEGs, don't shoot them... Seriously, some like shooting jpeg, some don't. You can tweak your jpeg settings - does it look exactly like a Cannon JPEG? Probably not -- then again, that isn't a Cannon lens, or a Cannon sensor, or a Cannon filter, now is it?

Worrying about how a camera compresses and encodes a lossy format is like worrying about someone else buying the wrong groceries for you... Just do it yourself.

Not intending to add any more confusion, but did you know that Samsung also made a model that is almost an exact copy of the k100D? its is the GX 1S. It sells at a Adorama 133106 Samsung Digimax GX 1S Digital SLR Camera Body with D-XENON 18-55mm Zoom Lens, 11 Point AF, 6.0 Megapixel, 2.5" LCD Screen.
