I'm not sure about K10D but I think it's unlimited there. With K100D it depends on the firmware version, as far as I know. As from shop (wihtout firmware) it's up to 2GB, after firmware it's higher.

As I read, it's not really major thing. You can upgrade yourself, just download it from web and follow intrucitons (on dpreview was link for K100D firmware upgrade and instructions too). I haven't done it myself, I'm still with up to 2GB only but I don't mind. And I'm not sure how big you can go after firmware upgrade...

In some ways having a number of 2G cards is safer than having everything on one enormous card. Imagine a camera with an 8G card being stolen towards the end of a holiday...

SDHC standard allow up to 32gb, so i guess thats the maximum...

Im using a 4gb SDHC card in my k100d and it works perfect (updated firmware)

safe maximum for normal SD card is 2gb if its not SDHC

I always travel with my laptop (and several SD cards), and move the pictures over sooner rather than later. It also allows for a quick review of the pictures to see how they are turning out...

K10D: I tested a Class 6 SDHC 4gb card = 12 secs to save 7 Raw DNG; 8GB Class 6 SDHC = 24 secs to save 7 RAW DNG. More may not be better. Can you buy larger than 8 GB?

With the new firmware upgrade you can use SDHC cards. Theoretically they can go upto 32GB but I think the biggest cards are 8GB at the moment, 16 GB should be just around the corner! Here. And they seem to be for sale here. But I dont know anything about that store.

Thanks

I use a 8GB Class 6 SDHC in mine after a firmware update to ver 1.02, I got my camera a week ago and it came with firmware 1.00 and it would not work.

Sometimes you just can't haul your laptop around (like at an airshow with restrictions on large backpacks)

That said, in such a situation, I'd rather have multiple 2 or 4GB cards than one 8. Which is why I now own two 4GB and two 2GB cards. (The old 2GB from my phone is getting retired as my new phone uses MicroSD/MicroSDHC).

The latest firmware for the K10D and *ist Ds state that they are SDHC compliant. The SDHC standard goes up to 32GB - although I do not know of a 32GB SDHC card that is available right now. I did read that Toshiba has made some experimental 32GB cards - but I do not know if they are ready for the real world.

I carry 2 4GB cards and a single 1GB or 2GB card in my "out and about" case. If I though I were going to be somewhere and fill up 9-10GB of SD space, I would carry my Wolverine HD with me. That way I do not have to worry about a laptop - nor does it add much to my bag (which I got from Wolverine anyway).

Edit: Fry's had 8GB cards on sale last week for 89USD after rebates, I did not buy one but as the price drops - why not?

PDL.
