Body-Lens matching

While all you blokes are discussing K-5 isues...
I'm still running a *istDS and a couple of kit lenses.
I am looking to upgrade to K-5 next year, and in the market for better glass as I see it available.
With that in mind I am questioning the compatability of the various AF mechanisms. I assume that if I acquire something with HSM, SDM (or SDM2?) I will not be able to use AF until I upgrade the body. Is this correct?
Is there a chart somewhere in the forum of this sort of compatability/functionality between lenses and bodies?

There's the lens review database here. AFAIK just the two zooms 17-70 and 18-135, do not have shaft drive and are SDM or DC SDM (whatever that turns out to be) only. It seems we've introduced KAF3 as a mount description for lens motor AF only.
