The USB Cable I-USB7, K-7, Sandisk

I'm currently running a little program called H2testw to check USB transfer rates. My external hard-drive says about 25mb/second read and write, so the program and my USB ports seem OK.

My K-7 and Sandisk Extreme III 16GB SDHC is running at 8.5mb/s write speed. Seems very low. Is this the cable, which the Pentax site tells me is the USB Cable I-USB7? I can't find any more info on it. Possible fake Sandisk? Both K-7 and Sandisk card bought from B&H.

Read speed is running at 10.5mb/s
Both via cable to computer

Just for your notes, guys:
m - mili
M - mega
b - bit
B - byte

So, when you are talking about megabytes, write MB. In this case it was obvious that you're talking about megabytes, not milibits, however sometimes it might confuse.

Hence I deliberately didn't put units in my reply, didn't want to confuse the OP (assumed he'd pick up the correct units from the link )

Do you have an SD card slot on your computer or can you use a card reader? Might be worth seeing what transfer rates the card can do without the K-7 in the loop.

I also used to connect the camera via the USB cable but nowadays I just insert the card into the computer. Transfers are much quicker and I'll never run the risk of having an accident with the cable (such as lifting the laptop, forgetting that the camera is still connected to it).

The snazziest option is to use an Eye-Fi card. It will automatically start transferring your pics to the computer wirelessly once the card gets into the reach of your computer (ad-hoc network) or wireless access point (if you have one at home). Don't know what the transfer rates are but it seems to be a very convenient method.

EDIT: The K-7 is supported even with the 8GB X2 card you need to be able to transfer RAW files.

Hmm, there is another computer at home with a card slot, so I'll get the same program on that and check the transfer rates.
