It's about time. If it was a Nikon or Canon they would have reviewed it months ago.

I really hate their bias- that's why we should start reviewing cameras (formally) here

As great as that sounds.. I don't know that anyone would want to risk reviewing a Pentax camera on a 100% Pentax forum.

Even one little *HINT* that something isn't fantastic about it would cause an uproar

Noise is a complex issue. In the review Phil mentions that the noise of the Pentax is higher than the others but so is the retained detail. It is a trade off. Detail vs noise reduction. I came at the K100 from a D70 which also had little noise reduction and I think it is the right approach.

Well, although they claim they are completely unbiased, looking at final ratings makes me think that they not only biased in their DSLR review queue but they are biased in their verdicts also...

It is not a big deal those final ratings, however for build quality Canon 400D got 8.5, Sony a100 got 8.0 and Nikon D80 got 9.0 there. Pentax K100D got 8. Can you believe that? I haven't used any of those cameras, however I've tried Pentax K100D, Sony a100 and Nikon D80 in store. I didn't find K100D built worse than D80. It was on the same level if not better. Sony a100 build is worse than D80 and K100D. So, my guess is that Nikon and Canon got at least 0.5 point bonus because they are Canon and Nikon and Pentax got at least 0.5 point deducted because it is Pentax...

I guess that you're just looking at those grey, black pictures and to background of Queen's head shot. Look also at details of Queen head. K100D retains best details in ISO1600 while noise is still very acceptable. Nikon D50 washes out details (BTW D80 is just hopeless in that matter), Canon 350D retains more details but not as much as K100D.

Depends if you want detail or not... Of the 3 the K100d does show the most noise, but it also retains the most detail.. At 800 and 1600 the other two are very soft and lost a lot of the detail...

I would love to see various review of the same camera or lenses by the forum members. Then maybe summarising everyone'e review or opinions ...

A good review would require in-depth knowledge of pentax in general

Tempting... The main thing stopping me from upgrading from my DS is the tiny buffer. I do do a bit of kids sports photography (even had one published in a book about digital video ) and being able to do about 8 jpgs in a row is handy. Maybe I should pop over the ditch and buy joele's one!

its about time that the facts got sorted =) its funny how much marketing hype can sway 9 buyers out of 10 to the two major brands because people are just too lazy to read the details.

although i had no idea about the image quality of the K100D at the time i bought it, i *knew* that feature and value for money wise, it was the winner hands down. My K100D was $400AUD less than the EOS 400D, so surely, with that surplus put towards a prosumer level lens, it has more than enough cred to boogie with the $1k+ kits.

first i took d70s as preferred, then i found its color dim and gray,i don't like this..so now i decide to get k100d, for its cheap price and sr

although k10d is good enough,it is some expensive than k100d, and no ni-mh battery support...
