K-x extended ISO

How much quality loss is there when turning on the K-x's extended ISO range between ISO 200 and ISO 100?

How about in the upper range of ISO 6400?

There wont be any difference in IQ when turning on extended ISO. That's all it does is literally extend the ISO range.

Just try it out yourself. Shoot a scene at the different settings and pixel-peep.
I think you will find the visible differences between 100/200 and 6400/12800 are negligible. The feature is handy however because it lets you choose higher/lower shutter speeds, aperture etc, which is sometimes useful.

I'd call 100/200 negligible, but certainly not 6400/12800

It would be interesting to know what actually happens when going from ISO 200 to 100. With higher ISOs the concept of increasing the (analog) gain (and noise) is easy enough to grasp. But going the other way? Smaller gain would not help with overexposed photosites as higher gain does with underexposed ones. Maybe ISO 100 just uses 1/2 shutter times for a systematic 1 EV underexposure with analog gain set to ISO 200, this would seem like the easiest way to get there?
