K20D leaves a line on the right side of photo. ?

Gday. A while back i noticed that my K20D leaves a grey/black line down the right side of all my photos ?

It's about 1cm from the edge of the photo on the right side ?

See in picture bellow.

Has anyone seen or have had this problem ?

Anyone got any ideas..

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like you have a dead row on your sensor.

Well if they won't do anything I'll give you $20 for it.

Would dead pixel mapping work for this?

Yes. Got your PM.
Cheers.

At least it's close to the edge. I'll just keep cropping i guess......

I dreed the thought of the cost to replace the sensor. Don't think i'll get any offer's of help from the importer.

Just think of it as a crop factor(Shitty I know).

But look at olympus, they have a 2x crop factor, .5 more then Pentax 1.5 crop factor...

If you were super-mega-careful about it, you could always pull the focus screen and scribe a line on the side of it to mark where this line is. You should probably mark a line on the other side too, so that if whatever lens you are using has a natural distortion or vignettes you wont compose a photo that feels out of balance.

Come to think of it, where is this line in relation to the "crop" of the viewfinder?

If it's just a pixel line you could easly make a photoshop action to copy the adjacent pixels into the black line. No one will tell. Then you can batch all of your photos with this action.

I'm in discussion with the Aussie importer to see if they will fix it without costs to me. Statutory rights thingy, based on suposed camera quality, price and age.

If that fails. I just crop. Lucky it's close to the edge of the photo. If it was in the middle, that would suck.

Thanks for all the help/advice.

Let you know what happens.

I would be livid if it was my camera, I hope you get it repaired on the cheap!

Good luck,
