Interesting tale on K-x ...

A person took his K-x and 5DMK II (with L glass) to a display home shoot. More shots were taken using the 5D.
Client then bought 11 shots -- 7 from K-x and 4 from 5D

Hard to believe? read it near bottom of this page

Just an interesting tale, that's all

Good story. Werticus is also a member here, of course.
He has a very cool silver K-x with a brown grip.

To be fair he says the 5D(he says 5D, not 5D mark 2. Mark 2 will blow the Kx out of the water) was a backup and not even his. Also he didn't like the ergonomics of the 5D. And the 5D is over 5 years old now. Basically like saying my 2010 Macbook Pro is going to be faster than my 2005 Mac Pro. Of course it is. 5 years is like 100 when it comes to electronics...

Insecure Canon user detected.

But in truth 'fair' isn't much of an issue here. The client chose the images. They didn't know and couldn't care whether it was a Pentax, Canon or Nikon that took the pictures in question. Probably even if he had shot with a D3x and a 5D2 as well as a K-x the result would probably have been the same.

This brings to mind the results of the David Pogue experiments about the megapixel myth. Same story, except here (since the 5D and the K-x have the same MP) it's the FF beats APS-C IQ myth that is being debunked in a real world example.

nice story but since he was using the two cameras at the same time it was probably more a choice of focal lenght rather than camera characteristics

He said he used to own the Mk1 and "still has access to it," so he's quite familiar with it and its ergonomics.

Agree with Pablom: unless user used the same focal lengths and the same compositions for each camera shot this statement doesn't mean much.

What camera ergonomics, speed and manufacture year has anything to do with customer choice? It is the same as saying better/newer camera makes one better photographer. We are not talking about photographer choice here, we are talking about customer choice of FINAL results.

People are still taking amazing photos with 15 year old cameras.

I'm not sure why I am being quoted, I am saying the say thing as you are. People saying just because of this little story that the Kx is better than the 5D has no bearing at all. What I was trying to say is that the Kx is a better camera and it all depends on the photographer.

I think what Raylon was implying was that if WerTicus was not comfortable with the 5D (bad ergonomics), and wasn't familiar with it, he might not have produced the best images possible with it.

But I could be misreading. :P

Yea that's what I was trying to say. But either way, either camera can produce an image most everybody would be completely happy with.
