How large have you printed from your 6mp camera?

As the title says, what is the largest print you have made from your 6MP DSLR? I had the local Costco print the photo below at 18"x24" ($2.99), and was very impressed. The photo has been cropped slightly, and is actually closer to 5MP than 6. It convinced me that unless you want to print poster-size prints for close examination, or print severely cropped photos, you don't need 10MP.

The more Mega Pixels allow myself to Crop out more detaled images., 6mp is all I personlay need for now and If dont concern myself with editing crops ...even with 6mp, it's plenty for what I am doing as a beginner...

I have printed and framed two images from the DS that were done at 17 by 22 inches but they cost about $18.00 each to be done. Mind you that is cheap compared to the frames and they turned out very well.

This is one of the images I used. Reduced by the website software.

I have only done 11 by 17 from the K10 so I can not compare the 10 vs 6 meg quality.

Costco, 20x30 inches (no cropping) framed and hangs in my wife's office - just like vievetrick

Image => Aroaki / Mt. Cook 1 => PENTAX Photo Gallery

Costco prints on Fuji photo paper (not inkjets) and it was less than 25 USD after shipping 3,000 miles across the country.

I've had an A2 (about 17x24") done of the following. Hangs in the hall of my flat.

This is a crop of approximately 25% of a 6 MP image, resized to 200% and printed on 11 x 17,

It was shot with a 28-105 FA lens, on an *istD using maximum resolution J-PEG

The only reason I got close enough was it was much more interested in the remains of the mouse under its talon. Clearly you don't go looking for a shot like this with a 100mm lens!

20"x30", hanging in our stairway/hallway/entryway. From Costco as well.

Shot with the *ist DS/Kit lens @55mm (I think)

Hey Jimsi777, could you make that image a little smaller? Some serious PF going on with that shot, as well as almost the entire bird being blown out.

Dave,

18x24 $2.99 at Costco for online orders. I think $4.99 in store. They also do 18x36 panoramas, instore only, $9.99. Sadly, we cannot get 20x30 from Costco in Canada. Hopefully that will change. They also print everything on Fuji Crystal Archive photographic paper, and will happily fix any problems.

Andy
Your the only person here who's gotten bigger photo's printed than I have.

I've gotten several 24x36 photo's printed, and they're all nice and clear.

I've now got someone that can print up to 58" wide, but I don't think that anything other than my panoramics would be clear at that size.

I'm thinking of getting him to print one of them up, just to see what it's like
Although I don't know what I'd get it mounted to.
