+1 I like that.... so Pentax is the "fashion" business... so she would need to buy a "yellow" k-x or k-r if she is wearing a yellow dress?

Fabulous modelled pics for advertising.

Do you know if that was for an official Pentax campaign?

i was reading this thread and scratching my head. behind the competition, falling short. wth are you people on, or is it what i am on? so i tried to refresh my memories (according to which k20d was class leading in image quality, including high iso and such, when released -- and when i decided to buy it, and both the k20d and k-7 were still up there when the k-7 was released (!!) ). so to me, this sounds like "k20d shook the ground, i got a k-7 and was so disappointed to have class leading performance "only just" instead of alien class leading performance, pentax should be ashamed of themselves". ughh..

here's what dpreview has to say, in the k-7 review, interestingly comparing the k20d, k-7, d300 and 50d: in short, the k20d pretty much still owns them or is at their level (jpeg crap is meaningless, when talking about sensor and such), which is amazing considering how old it already was, the k-7 is about the same, in some places looks better in some worse (but, to be fair, above 3200iso it doesn't count anymore anyway, for either of these cameras, as they, i am sorry, all suck).
Pentax K-7 Review: 16. Photographic tests (Noise): Digital Photography Review

so, please, do enlighten me. maybe the d300 and the 50d are junk cameras and the comparison is pointless. which cameras did you mean? d2x? eos 1d mark whatever-the-hell-it-is-lately? i wouldn't throw away my k-7 if i had one (but if you're that angry, please don't hesitate to throw yours in my direction, i'll catch it gladly), actually i wasn't going to upgrade my k20d for a while, but damn them, that dynamic range keeps me awake at night, it would be enough to let me shoot as i used to (with film).. but i digress: wth is wrong with the k-7 again? (except what falk discovered about the shutter)

Well, seeing how I just got mine a few weeks ago, I don't foresee my self getting rid of it for a K-5 anytime so, or at all. My K-7 replaced my K100d (now my backup body) and I am still learning it. I look forward to using it and I must say that some of the things I read on this thread concern me a bit as far as its performance but it sounds like i will still shoot everything that I like to do. Long live my K-7.

Apparently it doesn't cook, clean and vacuum.
It also doesn't do laundry, wash walls or wax the car.
In it's favour, it doesn't shed.

I have no intention of getting rid of mine. Having had the K200D and the K20D I still like the K-7 best. I have gotten a lot of really great shots with mine. At some point I will cave and get the K-5 and only then will it become the backup body. I look forward to getting a K-5 maybe early next year but for now my trusted friend is staying front and center!

I am late joining in this thread but here's my take on the K7:

I own one and will keep it until it stops functioning altogether.
I have taken pics of all kinds: birds, BIF, scenery, landscape, portrait, street stuff, etc ; and I am pleased with the overall results, even at ISO 800.
Granted, once I go beyond that (I max out at ISO 1250), there is some noise but nothing that cannot be fixed in PP because I shoot RAW.
Therefore, nothing wrong with the K7.

I will get the K5 though, because I need some more "boost" in high ISO situations and, not to say the least, some additional "boost" in AF.

Then, by keeping the K7, I can use the same grip, plus I am now quite used to the ergonomics of it which are exactly the same as the K5. Navigating through the settings will likely be a breeze because the K7 uses nearly 100% of the same buttons, controls and menus.

I have 10K clicks on the K7 .... must be good for another 90K!

JP
