So the ultimate K-series camera will be the K-0, then?

Maybe they can start using L, if they should come up with something worthy of the L-x designation. I think they'll revive the M name for their upcoming mirroless cameras. Makes sense, since the M series was shockingly compact for its time (Actually, the MX and ME were only marginally smaller than the Olympus OM-1, but the ME was sold in one kit version with the M-40mm/2.8, which looked almost absurdly tiny).
But "M" is from the word "Mirror", and mirrorless cameras don't have one. That would be somwhat misleading IMHO.

I still remember the days of rat race of computer CPU from MHz to GHz. Now no one seems to care about the CPU speed any more. The upper bound of number of pixels which can be packed in an area of 16x24mm is about 20 MP. So the current crop of 16 to 18 MP are about the maximum. If you put in more, each pixel would not receive enough light to give strong signal to noise ratio. So I think K-5 is probably the matured APS-C camera which you could keep for 10 years.

I'm still holding out for the K30D.

Why? I want a K-5 sensor in the bigger body. I don't like the rubber door over the AV ports (come on, $1900 for a body and it has a chunk of rubber stuffed into the side of it??!) and I don't like the SD door either. Give me back the little lift-and-turn latch for it. Oh, and why does the mode selector wheel need a lock button in the middle of it?!

K30D or I am going back to P&S when my K10D bites the dust.

I think that works out perfectly for a progression from K-3 and then to K-1.

K-3 will be a smokin' hawt piece of gears, and K-1 will just flat out kick everyone's asses.

Forget about the K-series.
I'm waiting for Pentax to switch back to L-series names in digital form. I want a digital LX.
