Pentax K-X Shutter or Sensor Issue Due to Moisture

I was recently caught unprepared in the rain. Consequently, moisture got into my camera, my LCD screen fogged up from within...not fun. I took the batteries out of the camera, and let it dry out a bit.

Now I am having some type of issue related to the shutter, sensor, or maybe something else. I'll press the shutter, and sometimes I will capture the image, and other times I'll hear the shutter open, and it remains open for a few seconds, then it will close. No pictures is taken either, and the control panel remains on the LCD screen while the shutter is open (...rather than the screen going black, briefly, as it does when I capture an image.). It captures images quite inconsistently...for instance, when I'm in my house, I can capture an image consistently, with few issues. Then I'll go outside and not be able to take any pictures, practically. So, light may be playing some time of factor.

Additionally, when I go to Live View, the image is very dim after I press the shutter and have this issue.

Any thoughts?

No setting would produce that problem so I think it is mechanical (probably from the moisture). I have heard others describe similar problems to yours when their shutter is going dead. The obvious would be to send it in if it's still under warranty or have a professional look at it.

I know that probably wasn't too much help but thats all I can come up with.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I've played around with it a bit, and light definitely is playing a factor, so it's probably the sensor. I don't believe the warranty will cover moisture damage unfortunately. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a new camera...

How long did you let the camera sit to dry? Did you take out the battery while it was drying? Did you seal the camera in a container with silica gel packets or rice to suck out the moisture?

I took the batteries out for, but not for as long as I should have. I didn't put it into a container either...but if it happens again, I will. Thanks for the information!
